I like them both but probably prefer throwing off the side of the spool with a spin cast. I'm way more accurate. I dont get the twists some guys do. Wallis works when i have room and dont need the accuracy.

Steelie, if you have trouble casting don't try to go for distance yet. Learn a cast your comfortable with and practice until you can perform it accurately.........distance will come naturally after that. I might catch some laughs for this, but when i got my first pin years back I spent a solid 4 hours learning to cast before I felt comfortable enough to fish around other people. I'm a slow learner I guess. I obviously continued to practice and still do(mostly while fishing), but it really did take me that long to get the hang of it. Once you do though, it'll be like second nature.......the way its second nature to cast a spinning reel.

Try practicing in a field or your backyard or even at a lake first with a heavier float and some shot. No need for a hook obviously. If you are already good at casting, my apologies for assuming otherwise.

One should learn different casts with a pin, because there are times some are more useful than others.
