when does the new goose season start
it has been sept 1 for a gazillion years but havent seen anything yet?when will they announce it.im itchin to get some goose jerky made.the wife isnt ready to be a duck widow yet but she made it through last season with me laid off.wonder if she'll be there at the end of this one?

I saw in one of the articles in the hunting/fishing area of the Post-Gaz this past sunday a reference to goose season being from Sept 1 - Sept. 15th I sure hope that was a typo. That really didn't make much sense to me considering the lengthy seasons last year. Tried searching the net for some credible information but found none.

i guess im just itchin to get out there,i see so many of them.they just seem to get more populated everywhere they go.i have a bunch of new pond owners more than willing to let me hunt them.they are sick of steppin on goose nuggets.

Runt -- I used to get laid off every hunting season, savor every oportunity. Now I considere myself retired. Just a tip(for what its worth), save the roost shoots for when you depleted your other spots unless you know others that will beet you to it.

last year was the only real time we got to shoot at roostin time. just the few real dark storm days. i think alot of golf courses should be sick of em too.its a amazing how the population exploded in the last 20 years.

Trust me, the golf courses know how to take care of them. IMO the population decreased tremendously in the last 8 years, due to liberal limits and more people hunting them.

i live in erie and the penninsula gets alot of birds.even the few pond owners i know say they have had more groups "dropping" in

just like always sept.1st .some people cant sleep the night before deer season, i probably wont sleep the night before goose season.or duck season.thanks for the info rsquared.ill have to figure out how to put pics on the pc.i feel this years goose jerky will fill the freezer.

I agree Runt. Took up waterfowling AND steelhead fishing 6 years ago. Somewhere in that time, they passed deer hunting on my list of favorite things to do. Get much more excited about a good duck hunt or a trip to the tribs than I do about deer hunting these days. Still enjoy it, but not as much as those two.

The waterfowl regs are out now. go to the commission site and they are up!
The worst day hunting or fishing will always be better then the best day at school or work!

might have to drift for steel head and keep the shotgun by the side,go and hang out in front of walnut or elk.theres always birds flyin in and out of those two creeks.i dont spend alot of time deer hunting but when im chasing woodies on the creek i bump alot of deer.i keep a journal of the time ,weather conditions, and aproximate area of the bump. then i look at the data and go from there.its worked wonderfully the last 4 years.oh, and i hunt public land and i have shot my deer ever since i started the journal.gotta be doin somethin right

I don't know about you guys. But it annoys me when the breaks for waterfowling tend to be scheduled around deer hunting. Of coarse I am not in the majority, but for some of us, deer hunting is not that all exciting. Lake erie being my only option in early december is not my cup of tea. Early december has always been good for me when I could hunt them. I bet those deer hunters are happy to schedule waterfowl dates.

they dont want us at inland lakes pounding semi-autos when their precious little deer are meandering around.i used to love to shoot mallards from union city resevior while guys were pushing deer a short distance away.i can see thier point though.no flourescent orange , were out there shooting semi autos, the wardens probly wasted alot time finding us duck hunters when they are out looking for deer hunters doing something they werent supposed to.they probably make alot better fine money from deer hunters too

Unless I'm missing something you can hunt ducks during the gun season for deer. It's only geese that closes during deer season, and my guess is that's for the safety of goose hunters who might want to lay in a cut corn field in full camo.
