Some will say yes I will say no. Had two bad batches and will never buy it again. Moved onto suffix braid.

I have it on atleast one spool of every spinning reel i own all my bass and walleye casting reels and all my musky trolling and casting gear.  Never had one issue with it as far as strength.  It loses color quickly but i could care less about that... Worth the money fo sure.

Great stuff.  I have some 30# on my Stradic 2500 that is over 6 years old and was used in saltwater for 2 years and it is still as good as new..at least for what I am using it for now.

It is expensive, but I got a 1500 yard spool of 30# on ebay for $85 including shipping.

I've hear lots of good about it but I put it on my ultralight and it chewed up the eyes. My mistake though of not getting a coated braid. Maybe my guide was just messed up to begin with?  If your goina put it on a spinner you should maybe go with a different type of braid. I have Spiderwire Stealth on my muskie spinning rods and it works well and is teflon treated I think so it wont cut the eyes.

PowerPro ate the eyes?! What were they made of, parmesan? I have a cheap (really cheap, like under $20) rapala casting rod that has been casting powerpro for two seasons with no noticeable wear.

All braided line will cut groves in your guides. The smaller the diameter the quicker it will cut the groves.

it will only groove the guides if the guides have metal inserts.  Most Berkley and Fenwick rods have those type of guides.  As far as that goes, even mono will groove those guides in time.  Powerpro will NEVER cut ceramic guides, even the cheapest ones.

The Spectra fiber is still produced in the US by Honeywell, I believe.  Their main competitor, Dyneema, is produced in the US and Netherlands.  Most of the fishing lines use Spectra fiber; the formulas to weave and coat them are the big difference.

When braided high performance lines first came out they cut the guides.
Now they have a coating that prevents it.

Did the powerpro line come off ebay or a garage sale?
It might be line from when it was first made.

No I bought it last year at Gander to use on my ultra light. First started using it opening day of trout and by July the guide was gone. It was a Guide Series rod and im guessing that the guides are ceramic? Maybe that had something to do with it or maybe it was just a fluke ? Not sure but I just wish it wouldn't have happened. All other guides are fine.

I don't know how to explain that one.  All of the Guide Series rods I've experienced have guides with ceramic inserts (either Batson or Fuji), with the exception of the fly rods.

I just replaced the tip on a Fenwick for someone.  It had 9 grooves in it.  They use braid alot.  It's not actually the braided line that cuts the guide.  The culprit is the dirt and sediment from the water that gets deposited in the weave of the line.  Dirty mono will do the same thing, just not to the same degree.

I have been using PowerPro for almost three years and love it.  Still appears stong.  Using it about 20-30 days\year, how long should this line last?  I was thinking of replacing it, just in case.

That's it?! Go feeshin more often, man! I think dryrot will claim that line before old age sets in.

Seriously, though, it seems like this line is wearing just fine on both reels I've spooled it on. Till the dye washes out, you dont even have to worry, and after that, if you start seeing wear & tear, just trim off the last 50' or so of line and keep on feeshin.

I keep the line straight so I kinda just pull it out without it touching the guides. Also to add, I don't really get out often to fish (sucks to not be able to drive ) which kind of puzzled me as well since the line didn't get too much action. I was also wondering, how bad would it be for my rod to keep fishing with the line with no ceramic in the front guide?

I'd think it'd be harder on the line than the rod, though if your lightsaber-like line cut through your inserts, it'll do the same to your guides.

I hear ya Cold.  I tell my wife the same thing.  She doesn't have any sympathy for me though.  I do get out fishing more than that, just don't use the BIG rods all the time.  There is always August!
