trolling speed

Just read a note where a guy said he has had a lot of success between 2.4 and 2.6 MPH (GPS). I have been fooling with a sock and finally got my boat to slow down to 1.5 to 1.8. With the warmer water, can we be successful at speeds of 2.5 to 2.8 MPH on walleye? What speed are most boats trolling with success?

1.7 - 2.2mph on the GPS is the range i always stay in...However with spoons you can pull 2.5-3.0 at times and be very successful

Right now all fish on my boat are coming 1.9-2.2 gps on harnesses. You will have to go faster with stick baits and spoons. We troll those between 2.2-3.1 depending on what they want. When your trolling try making slight left and right turns, If you get the fish on the inside they want your bait slower if they hit the outside try speeding up. We also adjust our speed constantly sometimes when you speed up or slow down that triggers strikes!
