Muskie Patterns

Anyone have a Muskie Pattern, or Two to share?
I'd like to tie something up and give them a try soon.
Any help would be a blessing.

I dont know of a musky pattern per say, but if i was gonna tie somthing it would be synthetic, somthing you can comb out flat to make it look huge. Then Id get the biggest hook I could find, within reason, and match the forage fish of the lake or river (blue gill, shad, trout).

ditto salmu -- I'm looking to hit up a local lake for muskies soon in a float tube.  Hope they don't eat my feet.

I'm going to tie some rainbow trout in 5/0 + .  There's got to be a HOT pattern.  I've done minimal searching on the net.  Still in progress I guess.

My reports and advice are for everyone to enjoy, not just the paying customers.

Musky on the fly has really taken off here on Chautauqua Lake. In fact, one home boy, Steve Wascher is writing a book about it.
I was a at local rod and gun club and the flies these guys were tying were a combination of deer hair and rabbit strips tied on bait hooks. Some were also tying with synthetic fish fibre or fish hair. Those guys preferred synthetics mainly because "casting those rabbit strip flies are like casting a wet rag." Verry tiring on the arm.
     Big tubies are getting popular.
When I think of big flies, Barr flies, Dahberg divers, Whittlocks rabbit(?) worms come to mind.
Another fly I now hate to mention is the deciever, developed by that scoudrel lefty kreh.

Here is a link to a cool video that was shared on a local NY fishing board a couple of months ago.

I agree with Dano on the fly choices.  I also feel that some large mice, conehead muddlers, and some saltwater baitfish patterns might not be a bad choice. If I were tying any flies for musky, I think I would tie them on some saltwater hooks.  Just for the strength of the hook.

Wooly buggers work. Size 6 and bigger. How much bigger up to you. But I've caught them on size 6.

This is great,  I'm really looking forward to getting out to do some pike fishing in Presque Isle this year.  I really love those fish.  They are big, pretty, and take a fly.  I was speaking with some of the gem city fly tiers and they went out over the past weekend and it looks like they did real well.  Many fish, along with some very nice sized pike.  great stuff.
