Looks great. I love those reel seats and grips with the matching dragonwood (?) inserts.

Not too shabby..wraps are a little long though, and too much trim banding for my taste, but it's all personal.  Glad you like it.

Jadewood actually, but they are pretty close (I think the dragonwood has more brown in it).  I ordered a Teton Specialist reel in Alpine Green to put on it.  Hopefully the reel is available, as I understand it Teton has stopped new production and is looking for a buyer.

I have a tioga in alpine green. It'll look beautiful with that wood. :)

I thought the jadewood was greener than that, but its pretty nonetheless...maybe moreso...when I was shopping around, I steered clear of the jadewood, which looked fake to me. Had I known it looked like that, I'd have been more interested.

    Cold,
What is your opinion of the Tioga?  I've read nothing but good things about them so I was surprised to learn that the company was in trouble.  Sounds like they have have a unique/good drag system.

So far, thumbs up all the way, though I'm somewhat lighter than you, using a Tioga 2 on a 3 wt. I believe the company wasnt so much in trouble as the owner was getting quite old and needed to find a buyer for both the facilities (a small shop in california) as well as his patents. I'm not sure if they managed to sell both as a package deal, and several of the bigger reel companies were interested in the patents. Depending on which one ended up getting them, quality may or may not be preserved. I wouldnt look for the Tioga line to stay Americn made though.

Hopefully Tioga will remain US made, when I heard about the company looking for a buyer the first thing I thought was that it would end up outside the US.

    Flathead,

Looks good!  I've been wanting to build one for a few years now.  It just keeps winding up on the back burner.
