I got something

Tuesday, I sat in a blind for the first half of the morning, then walked thru the woods calling, trying to locate a bird. Wednesday I woke up with poison ivy. So, now, I'm gonna have to sit out a few days. Hope things are going better for you guys.

Aww man.  That sux.  Happened to me two years ago turkey hunting, except I think it was poison oak or sumac.  Sat down at the base of a tree in the dark, and my pants slid down while my coat slid up, exposing my lower back.  Apparently I spread the oil around pretty good, as it went about halfway up my back.

Tried over the counter stuff, but had to get some steroids.  Good news is my bench press increased 20 pounds in 10 days

It seems like this time of year, the stuff is more potent. I hunt archery in the same woods in the fall and I dont have a problem. I didn't even see the plant the other day (I know what it looks like) and every exposed part of me is blistered.

Akita: I did hear one sound off and I sat down to call back. That's probably when I got the ivy!

R: I had the steroids once, years ago, when I had the ivy even worse than this. It does kick**** but my benefits suck and I dont wanna drop 200 bucks on something that will go away in a week. That said, it's gonna be a long week.

Do you have a picture of it? I dont know what it looks like. I'd go pick something that grows near poison ivy and it would turn out to be poison sumac.

i finally grew out of my terrible reaction to ivy thank god.  I used to get a dime size spot that would eventually cover **** near all of my body.  shots in my butt were the only thing that would control it.  I couldnt anywhere near the stuff without ending up covered.  still get spots but it doesnt spread.  Use a bristle brush and scratch it open and then pour some bleach on it or anything with alcohol in it for less of a burn than bleach.  dries it out right now.

The pic above is of Spotted Jewelweed. Pale Jewelweed (yellow flowers) is also commonly found in PA. Jewelweed will relieve the itching of Poison Ivy and Stinging Neetle. Contrary to popular belief it will not "dry up" Poison Ivy.

Jewelweed ice cubes provide great relief to the itching associated with Poison Ivy. Simply squeeze the water from the stalks of jewelweed and freeze as cubes. It works great.

Jewelweed seeds are also a tasty treat when outdoors, they taste like walnuts.
