paylake catfishing

I started last year fishing the paylake for the big catfish. I was using
10lb trilene with my drag set and had a few breakoffs, Should I go
to a heavier line? I have always been one for using the lightest line possible because you usually catch more fish but I'm starting to think
that the line diameter doesn't matter on the catfish. Any suggestions?

    I,ve been catfishing for 40 years. One thing I,ve learned is they,re not too picky about line size.I,d use at least 65# braid-thats only the diameter of 14# mono.The braids also soft,catfish are feeding by feel and taste more so than sight.

    What size hook would you recomend?  2/0 3/0?

    30# burkley big game on a bait caster with 5 to 7/0 big gun hooks. landed many 40 and 50 pounders.
