Hope I need this information

How do you field dress a turkey? With ringnecks, I just kind of gutted them and dipped em in hot water to get feathers off. I've never dressed a bird as big as a turkey (and I was no "surgeon" with the pheasants either). Any cleaning tips? Do I try to keep the whole bird, or are some parts inedible? I've heard legs are tough as old leather no matter how you clean/cook them.

    I always skin mine then just breast them out and might use some of the thigh meat slice thin and cook them chinese style in a wok marinate in soy sauce cooking sherry and scallion onions stir fry with minced garlic, waterchestnuts,baby corns bamboo shoots carrots,green and red peppers mushrooms,snow peas,zuchine and some jumbo shrimp. sauce is soy sauce and karo syrup,corn starch pour dish over a bed of rice YUM YUM YUM!!!!!

    Pretty much what I do. Except I only use the breast.
    The rest is so tough my dog wouldn,t eat it.

    if you pluck it dip it in a big pot of boiling water for about 10 seconds. will make your day much easier

    That's what I used to do with ringnecks, but turkies are a heckuva lot bigger.
