Shore fished Shannon got one really nice bass 18 or so close to 5 lbs. on the ultralight using a panther martin. Awesome fight! Wish I would of had my camera. Aside from that had one hit fishing a minnow off the bottom. Also seen a huge musky surface right out in from of me, whole body just came up to the top as it gulped something down? Shad?

    Creektroll,

Those are some sweet numbers. Are you fishing from a boat or shore?

"spot burning" only applies to private water. I mean after all it's all about preventing their loss, not keeping a spot to ourselves. Right?

Spoons right, it's a State park dude, meaning PUBLIC water's. Refer to forum policies instead of your own.

Went up to Arthur today (15 crappie, 2 channel cats, 1 perch) late start finally got on the water at 10am.  Wasn't able to a real good feel on what stage the crappie are in.  This front coming in is going to send them for a loop anyway.  But this is what i figured out.  Midmorning 8 - 10 foot of water, picked up three over 12".

went too deep and ran into the catfish.  one over 20, the other 15.  Missed one because of a loop that was under my spool nut.  spooled a good 50 feet off before getting to the knot.  That's my oversight tho.  Sun was beating us up by then.   Females are still deep sitting full of eggs waiting for the males to finish those beds!

Seen some stripers chasing alewives right next to the shore line.  Took me a minute figure out what it was.  But from the dorsals sticking out of the water is was a no-brainer.  This was about 3 pm.  Who says they only feed at night?

All in all a good day.  No 'eyes jerk at the bait store sold me some spoiled worms, ****ed I didn't try any worm harnesses.  And who actually counts out 24 minnows.  I'll never go in there again.  The guy on 528 if you wandering .

Was up pymy two weeks ago, easier fishing if you ask me, although you need to be good friends with your floating jig head provider.

Most likely what you witnessed was spawning hybrids.  Not saying they don't feed during the day, just saying, today, if you saw stripers thrashing about on the surface, most of them were spawning.
