WTB - 9.9 motor

Let me know if anyone has a 9.9 for sale.  I am looking for a kicker motor for my new boat.  Would like to fish some of the restricted lakes, and possibly save some gas and wear and tear, while trolling.  Would likely need a long shaft, unless I could figure out how to control it from the console.

    Pork,

Console, or tiller steering have nothing to do with wether you need a long, or short shaft. It is the rise of your transom.

    Spoon-
That's good to know...  I thought the shaft, referred to the tiller shaft?  I guess it refers to the drive shaft.  I'll have to measure how much clearance there is.  I'm guessing it would still need to be a longer shaft.  Let me know what you think.  Here is a picture of the bracket that is on it.  How would I steer it, since it appears the gas tank compartment area is pretty deep, and the top is at an angle.
    Thanks,
    PT

They make an extenshion and universal joint to add to the tiller handle.

This link shows what you need to know about shaft length.

Thanks once again guys.  I think the bracket that the last owner had put on, allows for a short shaft.  I'll have to definitely measure before buying a motor though.  I'm debating to go with a rebuilt Evinrude 4 stroke.  People seem to be be big on the 4 stroke Hondas.  My Yamaha 50 has the oil injection system, so I would like to get something that either has that or a 4 stroke, so I don't need to carry another gas tank.

If you have an adjustable bracket you can use short or long shaft and some also tilt.

    Pork,

I think the only reason there is a bracket on your boat at all is because whoever owned it before could not get their motor to mount to the transom.  If you look I am sure that the thickness of the transom is more then the bracket.  I have seen a few people do this.  When you get a motor see if it would fit on the transom and swivel properly, if so you don't need the bracket.  Just my two cents.

Also, check to see if the holes through the transom are sealed.  Just a bit of advice from a guy who already had to replace a transom because nothing was ever sealed properly.

I got a 2002 9.9 merc 2 stroke 20 inch shaft. It is a remote. I do not have controls to sell with the motor. It came off of a tracker pt 175. It has low hours since the 25 hp got the node over the low hp motor. It runs well and I've never had any problems with it. Priced to sell if you want it. If you have any questions please email me a shk130@hotmail.com and we can talk.
