gobblin thunder...

went listening this morning, for the first time this year, in southern clearfield county. asked a gas well attendant at unimart if he had heard anything, said not yet, saw some strutting outside mahaffey though. hit the usual route , first gobble at 6:45, single bird, traveled 12 miles and heared atleast 14 different birds, had a number of birds fly down at one spot, a lot of cutting.  three spots had more than two birds gobblin at everything. april 18th and 25th can't come soon enough.

Had some hens in my backyard this morning, did not see all the birds but heard them.  Hope a gobbler finds his way there before season.  Got to love moving into the country.

Took a early morning drive, saw quite a few long breads and jakes doing there thing, biggest bunch had 4 L. B. 3 jakes and about 30 hens, another spot I watched 3 jakes beat the snot out of a monster, they gang him all the way across a huge corn field.I bet he will become a tight lipped bird, every time he gobbles those jakes will be pounding him.Saw a double beard bird w/one hen but its been staying tight to a new house plan so I guess he'll be safe.Birds are everywhere in Beaver Co.

Got birds in the yard every day.  Somehow, they always disappear before the season, tho.

Put 4 lb's to bed tonight. They must of gobble 25 or 30 times before fly up.Then maybe 10 times on the limb. The one lb chased a hen in circles for 20 minutes straight. The season should come in on saturday.

still in eastern panhandle, wv. heard 5 to 7 birds hollerin' before fly down. then went for a ride up the mountain saw 2 jakes wth 3 hens cross the road, went to check out a tip from a kind older gentleman to find a longbeard alone standing on the paved road with no fear, pulled right up to him within 10 yds, watched til he clmbed down the embankment. saw 5 more single birds, before coming upon a jake in full strut courting 5 hens in a campground parking lot. will listen here friday morning, then back to clearfield county for saturday morning.

Clarion county birds are really starting to hammer. Listened the past few mornings, and hopefully they'll stay there for a youngster I want to take out.

southern clearfield is alive with gobblers everywhere! is that spot burning? heard 15 or 16 birds total hammerin away between  6 different spots, went lookin for mushrooms(no good yet), came upon 7 gobblers struttin for 3 hens, two of them kept the rest away from the hens over and over, watched them for bout 25 min, one gobble durring that time until they headed for the woods as a truck aproached. saw a huge bear with two cubs, the sow had to be 300+ and the cubs under 100...

I need to hit the number or something because if things happen like they did 2day my daughter should have another mountable bird.I know where they're roosting which way they fly down, which way they go to there food plots, strut zones.I just hope everything goes right. They're calling for good weather saturday so that is a bonus. There was 5 lb's 2day with 9 hens not a jake in sight.
