Saratoga Lake and Lake Lonely Ice

Took a drive by Lonely and Saratoga Lake today. Looks real wet and soft. Many spots with cracks or holes with water coming through. One guy was out with a kid on Fish Creek. Couple guys on main lake just past the creek mouth and there is still a permanent shanty out there....Here are some pics...

Jimmy, While I hate like heck to say this, you may be right.
Locally it's just to risky to go out there now and even though the north still has good ice I just don't think I will see it again until next season.

So NOW WHAT !!! the SR is blown out (almost) and will be with all that snow yet to melt.  Stripers are still a GOOD month away , smallmouth are chillin and my brook trout ponds are ice in...  I'll be stir crazy after I get back from the west coast.........

Just saw some recent pics of SR and could see grass on the banks in the back ground, but with lake affect that could change. Last report I saw said flow was about 1000 slowing the bite but they expect it to settle in a couple of weeks turning the bite back on....tight lines

When my family ran it, the water would flood to the other side of the building by where the stairs are. One spring I shot carp in about 4 fow about 30 yards into the cow pasture.

the SR is flowing over 2,000 cfs , and the snow melt has not really started yet. trust me the water is going to be flood stage soon and then high for awhile.  i don't know if you ever used this but here is a link to the real time flow, up - river           http://waterdata.usgs.gov/ny/nwis/uv/?site_no=04250200

Went by Fish Creek today. Starting to break up. Open cracks down the middle from past the marina running under the bridge past the launch and ice pulling back from shore. Won't be long now.

The most dangerous spot on Saratoga Lake is under the bridge.  For the past three years I have pulled at least one person out of that water when the ice gives way.  Even when I see them coming with their stuff they don't realize how soft that ice under the bridge has become when I warn them.
