Some of these guys are unbeleiveable in their skill at turkey calling, probably a real turkey would come in last place in some of these contests.Denny Gulvas is the MASTER.

I lived in the same town as "Denny Gulvas".  Here's  a tip don't focus on calling. If u can yelp and cluck you can call 1 in. 98% percent of gobblers killed can be traced to the "set up" and "woodsmanship".  In a case of a poor setup or a henned up gobbler is when calling becomes a premium. Not the quality, but your knowledge of turkey vocabulary. Knowing what to say and when to.  I called in a couple of contest and RELAYER is right the callers sound alot better than live turkeys. And Denny was  3-time Master Invitational Champion, a 4-time U.S. Open Champion, and the bad part he knows it!

"If, when you pull a fly out you
dont hear drums and cant smell
chicken blood in the air, put it back
in the box, for if it is evil you seek,
then it can only be conjured with the
    same.

PA you said it exactly right setup and woodmans ship.I always thought you had to be a pro caller to call those boys in but once you find the right bird it's game on.I called three longbeards in together last year but setup to far in the woods.I think it would help if the season came in a little bit earlier also.
