Popup magnetic tip ups.

If anyone buys the new China made pop up tip ups from H.t enterprises you should hydro test them at home first. My first time out with them they filled up with water and froze up.  I was fishing Kinzu last week and a fella had 15 of them the old style pop ups made in U.S.A.  He had them for over 20 years and are like brand new. So I got some and am dissapointed. If anyone bought them I would suggest to epoxy the tube where it meets the reel bracket so water does not get in. it should work. I have one in a bucket of water right now doing a hydro test. If it leaks they wont work.

I bought some from Frabill that are trashy. They are made out of a very brittle plastic. In the cold you have to handle them like eggs. I havent taken them out this year yet. They are a great design however the accountants must have whittled the specks down to save money or something. I bought ~5 of them and broke 2 the first season. Those old ones ( USA ) made were great and really held up. I have two of them, however one I bought on EBay and it leaks I will have to fix it. I know others that fish the old ones and have been using them for years.

Wooden Tip Ups work great the best way to go if you got a few bucks are the frabill circle no freeze ones. dont have to keep the hole clean or anything and nothing freezes.
