Fished almost every other day until this recent cold snap, as always in winter, plenty of trout, and quite a few big boys. Many streams are froze now, but there are plenty of creeks with spring influence that are not.

I fish all year long, but not under 32 deg. much any more. That's a good time to tie/snooze.

I would just stay home if I were you.  Most of the trout are dead in the winter and the ones that aren't won't bite anyhow.

Seriously though, take BT's advice to heart, find streams with open water and you will likely find some fish.  The limestoners always fish well during the winter as long as you don't mind fishing during the brutal cold.  I finally made it out today on a spring influenced creek and found plenty of cooperative trout.

Haha- my streams never freeze over, or even get slush. I be lucky.

Went out yesterday, and did well once we found some open water, spent most of the morning driving on state park roads trying to find some accessible water........caught a nice rainbow.....

May the holes in your net be no larger than the fish in it.

Fishing a body of water while confined to 8" holes does not catch my interest too much.  Especially when there is plenty of fantastic open water fishing in the winter, if you know where to look.

I took a duud fishing yesterday from another board. It was cold & I'd been up all night with a migraine. Anyhow the fish had lockjaw for me. He caught a few. This was in the Breeches Special Reg. area. My head is still hurting.
You may think it's crap, but when I get these things it usually means a big pressure change on the way & foul weather is imminent. The fishing usually sucks when my head hurts. I think the fish get sick too.

I am with you that yesterday was tough, fished one of my favorite areas yesterday and only caught 1. Today though, especially before this evening snow, was another story. I fished a SW PA freestone stream and really layed into them, including 2 browns that were quite large.

Nice. I hope to get out again soon. I am recovering from a bad case of bronchitis. I wouldn't have gone out if this fellow didn't want to come hang with me. Esp. with the migraine theory I have.
Glad today was better for you. It further helps to make me think the fish may be effected by these changes too.
Who really knows. It's nice to get out either way.
I fished a small part of the Breeches I haven't been to in a couple years & had a good time. Many memories come back in certain places for all of us I'm sure.
    Cheers to all here.

Fish the big, moving water.  My one fishing buddy gave me a great success report from the time when I was out of town over the last several weeks.  BIG browns caught in the river.  Largest, reported, was 22"  I demanded pictures as proof but only got excuses.  We may be able to give it a try sometime tommorow.

Atempted to fish yesterday.  Found lots of high water.  When we fished, the clear, cool water. . .no takers.  My buddy ponied up and showed me the pictures of the browns, they were really nice fish.  I know right where he caught them and it is always productive.  Yesterday it was too high to even approach them though.  The weather is to stay nice and no precip in the forcast, maybe able to get on them later.

I live in northern VA. I miss my PA streams but down here the best trout fishing is in the winter. I cant wait till summer, I fish my PA streams in the summer. Down here in VA. during the summer the trout just flat-out die in the "approved trout waters" near my home. I dont catch and release trout In VA unless I am in the mountains. In PA. my little speckled friends get put back.
