WAR BOAT IN THE BAY MAKING UNSAFE ICE FISHING
Saw on the news last night that the ship builders are bringing in 2 war boats for repair which will really mess things up this weekend in the bay.
We are really happy to see that they are building their business and employing good paying jobs, however their timing could not be worse in my eyes.
Could they have not got those ships in a couple of weeks ago? We wait all year to ice fish and now it gets delayed due to unsafe ice for another week or so. Yea I'm ****ed off, but what can anyone do about it? Most likely nothing but take it on the chin. Will try to get some pictures of this today.

I've seen all sorts of ships come in while ice fishing on Misery only breaks up where the ship is doesn't effect hardly any of the bay. May hurt a little area for perch fishing in the middle but that's about all. Don't know about war boats though..

captin , if you do go down there for pics , check out how much damage is being done to the ice , and where the damage is. I was planning to go on sunday. If they make a mess of it , it might not be safe. After these cold temps the next 3 to 4 days , I was assuming that the ice would be good enough to hold my fat arse. I dont like to take chances and Ill just wait till its safe. Let me know please and thanks.

With all this snow on the ice, it will only make it freeze up thicker than what it was.Just have to put fishing the channel on hold another week...........Mark

Thats exactly what I was stating, the ships coming in will only make for better ice in the middle of the bay, just have to wait another week to get out.Didn't think I needed to draw it out due to the headline of the thread..........Mark

Just heard on the news that the two barges are due in Erie on Saturday Morning. Trouble leaving Conneaut Ohio. What a bad time to try to get to port. This sucks

The boats definitely did not come in. There were no large ships in the docks.

. The ROGER BLOUGH and PRESQUE ISLE remain at anchor off of Erie. U.S. Coast Guard cutter NEAH BAY is getting underway from Detroit and is due at Southeast Shoal at 1900 tonight, and should be arriving in Erie at around dawn tomorrow to escort the two into the port.

Hope the guys on the ice take some pictures. And let us know what it felt like to have that wave surge raise the ice if it does. Should really be weird feeling having water splash out of the hole.

These two boats are stuck in the bay and there bringing in a bigger wrecker to break the ice, am I correct?

Fisher misery bay sunday. Did not notice any water coming from the holes. The ice breaker did its job well, opening the channel quickly. They hung around until the boats where docked. You could hear a low rumble while the boats moved thur the ice. The ice on misery bay was not affected by the boats.7-8 inches of ice intact so have @ it, should be a good week on the hard h2o

busted east of the dock but guys were all the way out in the middle of the channel today off chestnut street and all was well, so no worries.
