Well, I've never used those.  I don't know anything about them, but I always wanted to see how they worked.  Sorry I couldn't help...

When I fish for pike I like to use nylon coated ice line in the 20-30 pound variety with a strong barrel swivel and a 9-12 inches of coated steel leader at the end.  In the past i have used 0 or 2/0 trebles attached to the leader.  The nylon coated ice line is FAR superior to the braided stuff IMO...

Can't help you with rigging for stealhead.  I have never caught them through the ice...

I like to use white 50lb braided line because with walleye you can see if the line is at an angle or straight down. I always love to see the line pulled over at an angle when checking a flag, most of the time the fish is still on. I go with two feet of clear 12 lb Berkley xl for my leader, always use a barrel swivel between to keep line from twisting. If you are going for pike or muskie use steel braided line. For hooks I use a #10 lazer sharp treble, they are the sharpest ones I have found. Hope this helps you out.

The nylon coated line I once purchased was crap. It had too much "memory". I use 30# min. braid. Fishusa has good prices on it. I have my best luck on black or green color.

Run a line straightener down it.  The braid gets full of water and freezes, plus it frays easier.  Also, when you go to store your tip ups, or wind them up at the end of the day, if you put the hook into the braid, it is going to get caught and fray the line...  OTH is right that nylon coat can develop memory, but I think it is worth it to take the extra time to straighten it out...  It will never freeze...
