I never really had intentions of making these to sell. Because i know that most people will not want one based off of sticker shock. But i did crunch some numbers and took a look at a few other ways of making these to try to reduce the labor cost (materail well thats out of my controll and a fixed price)
My sleigh took around 5-6 hours to design and build, and 100$ in materail
I have new runner system idea that i will try on my personal one so right now its an idea, not yet tried. It should reduce material cost.
I can make 4 sleds out of two sheets of aluminum (two different thickness for the different parts)
That breaks down to 80$ material for 1 sled.
And if i make 4 sleds i think i can get labor down to 2 hours a piece.
So 80$ in aluminum and 80$ in labor = 160$ for a hand made in the USA sled
That is an pretty good estimate, and thats if i can sell 4 of them.
I am one guy not a production shop, and honesty i would be suprised is people would want one knowing the price.
