Fish Finders

What kind of fish finders are you using. I have a Cuda 128 on a 14' fishing boat but have the opportunity to upgrade for a pontoon boat. I have been looking at a hummungbird that gives a 3D image of the bottom for around $250.00.
This is a step up from the two frequency transducers that give a wide and a narrow beam. 
I need some suggestions but nothing over $400.  I don't think I need color. I will only be on lakes like Conneautte, Arthur, Shenango and Edinboro.

    cant go wrong with an eagle. get a 320 or 480. very nice units and not very pricey.

    get color, you'll know why when you use it.  so easy to distinguish between clutter and fish

    $250 ? GET IT!  It just cost me $470 for matrix 47  3d .   I don't like humminbird but I like this unit. I thought the 3D would be so much better but its not if you got flat bottom or shallow lakes. Its pixel immage is great but then I was using a Garmin 160 and a Lowrance X65 so my pixels have now gone from 160x160 to 400x650 and way more power. I like this unit but it cost me. I guess I should have waited and got the $1K model of 3d w/side image but in a few years the cost will come down. On average the 3d goes for $500.

    Thanks for all the information from all. May have to change my plans for a little while. I was in a wreck today and have $500 deductable to pay plus car rental (20%) until it is fixed.  Worst part was the air bag going off.

    Well, the estimate was $5,630.50.  Bet my premium goes UP!

    Insurance is in business for a Profit not loss and so it always goes up unless you are struck by a insured motorist and even that does not promis a rental car unless your coverage has it built in.  Good Luck !
