Outdoor Journal Photo Time.

My daughter caught this beautiful hybrid Striper last summer so I decided to do a little bragging for her. This photo was in our local Outdoor paper so I decided to post it here also. She battled it for quite some time and also released it shortly after. When these fish get this size they are extremely vicious on the end of a line !

Brag away! That's a great fish! Really nice to see young people fishing, and parents fishing with them. Congrats to you and her. Do it as often as you can.

I don't always snag fish, but when I do...

    Hey Capt,

Nice fish, congratulations to you both.  Nice to see a father and daughter enjoying quality time together outdoors.  I have a daughter who is only ten months old and I am hoping that some day we have the same kind of relationship.

Her smile says it all.  You taught her well that she released the fish for someone else to get a chance to catch that hog.

Great pix! I agree , those guys put up one heck of a fight.
I always wonder which fish fights the best, steel, musky, or striper. Whats your thought?

Yea Greg. We did real good on Lake Author also as well in the Shenango River. 08 was a good year for those mean silver power bass. Mikastorm they are no doubt right on the top of the list. These major league fighting bad boys don't jump but they will smoke your drag and test your rod's breaking point. They are extreme fighters and don't give up easy! As you know. The only fish compareable in fight to me are trying to land larger fish from shore on the Niagara River. A 10 lb. Steelhead hooked in the Niagara current from shore or one hooked in Elk Creek is like night and day. Until you hook and battle some larger fish from the rocky Niagara shoreline you don't know how strong these fish can be. Hope you guys all get a shot someday at both experiences. http://outdoors.webshots.com/album/101180776vNqpqT

Same thing goes for lake wipers and river wipers. Them lake wipers got nothing on the wipers in the rivers. When those bad boys use the river current against you, you got your hands full. You fellas that fish for them only in lakes, don't know how hard they can really fight. Try it sometime....unbelievable.

I'm just pulling out some old photos. Here is one of my son holding a Laker on the Niagara with a Laker jumping at the same instant in the backround.
