Ausable River & "Lost Pond" 6/8>10

here is my report which i also posted on another forum i'm on so some things may not make sence here ,BUT
on with the report:

ok here is the lowdown:
arrived at KOA around 6pm friday eve
the place seemed pretty empty for a weekend
set up shop and just chilled for the eve.
woke up at 4am sat and hit the river on foot by 4:30am
which will be my start time next week as well
fished the pocket water catching numerous browns and my first rainbow of the year
fish were taking stoneflies and streamers
at 6:30 i put the kayak in at the iron bridge and floated 1/2 of the river road
not much was happening in the slow water altho the fish were there, just not taking
managed to catch 2 browns
8:30am switched gears and went to a pond i wanted to try
i trolled Hugh's Mickey Hornberg catching 1 laker,4 brookies and then my pole doubled
thinking i was hung up i pulled only to find my drag start peeling line
not knowing what to expect ,thinking it was a bass or possibly pike but the photo shows.
starting to get hungry headed back to the camp around 1pm
after lunch and falling asleep in the chair i headed back to the Ausable at 4pm
started behind the Hungry Trout and caught 1 nice brown
not liking the water i was seeing i decided to do a run & gun style
i hit every pull off from there up to the rt 86 bridge catching one or two fish than moving on
the second monster rainbow was caught towards the end of the day
it was a long hard days fishing but well worth the rewards
slept late today and left early to return home
some insite to the conditions:
water is low, clear and warming
did not see any hatches or spinner falls while i was on the river
i will fish very early then again late
pray for rain this week (not floods) just a nice rain say tues & weds.

  Now For The Good Stuff:
second fish was bigger than the top one and was released

    Thanks Dan:
just finished packing for another trip to the peaks tomorrow thru sunday
have a Conclave(gathering) amongst fellow fishers this weekend up there
i'd like to try another pond on my list before we hit the river friday night
word i'm getting is they are slowing down fast with the warm water,we'll see
i also participate in the Anglers Diary Program the state has on various rivers, the Ausable being 1
each page has room for 10 fish
last sat i filled 3 & 1/2 pages , not to brag but that shows you how good the river was producing
many were in the 16" class with the bottom rainbow at 23 &1/4"

now with that all said i sure hope i didn't just put the jinx on things
i'll report when i return sunday.
