Outboard Mechanic

Anybody know of a good outboard mechanic in the Greater Erie area that is willing to work on Yamaha's? I have a 94' 250 hp 2 stroke and a 86' 9.9 4 stroke that need minor repairs. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Go on their web page and locate the dealer nearest you and check their reputation out.

Thanks for the replies guys. I've been on Yamaha's website and the closest are Navigation Co. in Conneaut Lake and one by Chautaqua Lake. I've had the boat at the Navigation Co. multiple times and haven't had good success. They've only been a Yamaha dealer for 4 yrs so they don't have a lot of experience. They usually can't take a boat in for repairs til the end of June. I've left a couple messages for dealer by Chautaqua Lake and haven't gotten a response. I think the problem is that most shops are worried about parts. I can get the parts online at Boats.com. The 250hp has a problem with fuel delivery and I haven't had much luck diagnosing the problem. Having 6 carbs doesn't help either. The 9.9 has a problem with the automatic choke or carb. Leadmen your right about some newer model Mercurys having Yamaha Powerheads. I also found out that some Yamahas have Ford connecting rods.

I just came across a great website wherein you can find the answers to most, if not all your boat motor problems.  The site covers all marine engines.

    www.marineengine.com

Go to the discussionn board (top of page) and a list of all marine engines will be displayed.  Pick your engine type and start asking questions.

Here's another sight,,, EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE FORUMS at,,, "iboats Boating Forums". At the bottom of the page there should be a "Forum Jump" pull down box. There is a good "ask the mechanic" forum,,, good luck!

I can talk from experience, Erie has no good outboard mechanics.  Try this address http://1outboard.com/   They are good people.  You will not have to wait a month to get work done.
I bought a reconditioned 225 Ocean Pro from them 3 years ago and had no problems.  Same day service.  If you need more info call me 814-881-5685
