Bad weather for the end of the season

Been watching the weather like a hawk. Vacation starts thursday. They are calling for a drenching rain thursday, carried into friday and on into saturday with it gradually getting colder every day. Only saving grace if you dont want to hit the rain may be to head for higher ground. Thursday ill dawn my frogg toggs and head to the woods with my treestand umbrella. Depending on how miserable that day is will determine how Ill plan for the rest of the week.

Just wanted to give you guys a heads up. May be worth it for some of you playing time off by weather to take it tomorrow and wednesday.

sucks.

Rain or shine, I will be there for an all day affair saturday.   I gotta make my last day count and not let the weather control my hunt.

Can you guys tell me why Pa bow season goes out so soon ? I've been hunting Pa for about 10yrs and always wondered why the season goes out right in the middle of the rut.

I'm off all week.  I'm concentrating my efforts on tomorrow and wednesday anyway.  Maybe I'll take thursday off and then I'll decide what to do the rest of the week.

It was cold this morning too.  I thought it would help, but the deer weren't moving where I was.

Yeah, I am going to hunt with my buddy saturday.  I had intentions to hunt with him earlier and I even have a stand in that area across the hill from him, but I never made it there this year.  He saw 10 bucks last saturday and I am gonna make the smart decision and hunt with him.  We went in there sunday to check on my stand and found about a dozen scrapes and a line of rubs as big as my thigh within 100 yards of my lock-on.

My usual area I hunt has been getting way too much pressure for my liking.  Its roughly 500 acres and there were 8 vehicles there last saturday.  I wish I could offer to take you out but, the places I have been hunting I only have permission through friends; so I really can't bring anyone in with me.

This year has been extended a week later in November than years in the past.  The whole point of leaving two weeks between archery and rifle is that this is the main time that bucks will actually breed does.  If there not having arrows or bullets flying at them, Im sure there will be more breeding going on, creating more deer for years to come.  Geez, everyone and their brother already complains about how there is no deer.

The Lord has blessed us all today... It's just that he has been particularly good to me.

That doesn't matter about the breeding. If they are pressured they will do their thing at night. As far as everyone complaining about no deer, you will never hear that from my side. Pa has tons of deer compared to Ohio.....

This year is no different then years passed, it ends this weekend. Been the same way for a looooooooooooong time. Dont forget, everything must go right to kill a deer with a bow, 2 more weeks of archery wouldnt hurt a thing.

Moon phase says that Wed & Thurs, should be the best 2 days of these final two weeks.  When the weather cooperates with the moon, just a little bit, it makes for great huntin.  Good luck on the last charge here boys and girls....

Over here in Ohio they were chasing hard this morning. Small bucks were running does all over the place. A friend that was hunting with me seen a monster running a doe. He couldn't tell how many points he had, he said he just seen a whole lot of rack going through the trees.

Today would be the day.  Wife has had it with my 4:15am wake-ups and I am at work.  Saw a decent buck chasing a doe at 10:30am on my way out of the woods through a clear cut yesterday.  Doe came clost enough but not the buck.  He skirted around me and I just saw a flash of antlers as he went off after the doe.

Maybe I can get out Friday if the wife lets me.  I'll definitely be out there Saturday.

I'm hoping for friday or saturday, or both.  Time isn't as much of an issue as choosing a location.  I just cant find them.

I took a ride through my hunting area before dark tonight my god the buck where on the prowl. Seen tons i mean tons of does and bucks standing right behind waiting. Seen 3 buck i know was pushing 160ish no doubt stuiped as hell i walked up to one that was a mere 18 yards from me and he just walked off if i had the x force he would have been smoked. . Kinda kick myself in the Ares now for shooting one the first week..... My buddy shot a monster 9 pt this morning out of my stand it's pushing in the 130 ish mark.

for those mountain hunters, what's your plan for Saturday? Everything seemed slow for me this week and I refuse to let the rain stop me from my heading out tomorrow. Where do you normally see them? Near the top? along the steep? near the base?

On a whim I bought one of those tree umbrellas a couple weeks ago.  Looks like I will be using it tomorrow morning.  Accuweather is calling for steady rain most of the day then mixing with snow later at night.  So, it looks like a wet, chilly day with falling temps.  Hopefully the wind isn't as bad as the say and the rain is only light to moderate.  My rain gear seems to handle up to moderate rain fine but in that deluge last year on the first day, I got pretty wet.  I don't have high hopes for tomorrow but I will be out there.  Didn't make it out today due to some rush jobs here at work.

Those umbreallas are worth their weight in gold sometimes, the first day last year, aka monsoon season in pa, i went everywhere trying to find one that saturday and they were all sold out.  Finally found them on sunday, got myself one and my buddy, it was nice beign the dryest hunter in the woods...and watching everyone else walk out at 10 haha

I love mine.  Last year first day of rifle, when other hunters left the woods (perhaps to begin construction of an ark), I was high and dry.
