Crystal T - (saved)

Here's a new twist to the Crystal Meth - step by step. Although I've used and tied the Meth for some time now, I seem to have more success by adding a "vein" of sorts to the middle of the fly by using a thin strip of McFly foam. I also added some veiling material to add to the transulency of it. A few weeks ago I tried it out on Elk and had alot of success with it. Sorry about the clarity of the pics, but I hope they are clear enough to give you an idea of how to tie it. I call it the Crystal T. Here it is:

Material:
Hook: Daiichi 2571 Boss Steelhead Hook  - size 8
Pearl Diamond Braid
Thin strip of McFly foam
Veiling Material
(I use a toothpick to loop the braid and foam)

Tie in the braid first, then the veiling material, the the foam.

Make a loop with both ends of the braid, tie in and then make a loop over top and between the braid with the foam.

Continue this for three more times, each time with a slightly larger loop with the braid and the foam.

Finish the braid and foam at the head and trim.

Pull the veiling material over top of the fly and tie off at the head.

Trim off the veiling material and whip finish.
The "vein" of foam and the veiling material give this fly a transulcency look in the water. Put it in a glass filled with water and see the difference between this and the old standby - the Crystal Meth. There is a difference. Good Luck to you all. See ya on Elk Thanksgiving Weekend!!!!!!!!!! 5 Days of fishing - no work!!!!!!!!!!!!!
