Fishing wax worm Question

When fishing wax worms are you simply burying a hook in it? Do you tip jig and fish them? I've seen guys tipping stone flies with them. What works best for you?

I caught a ton of steel in super low and clear conditions by putting it on a size 16-18 hook with just a little weight.  It does not need to be on a jig or stonefly.

I use waxworms on a size 16-20 hook and thread entire waxworm. I make sure the hook point is exposed and fish this with small fly shot and a float several feet above shot.  Remember in clear water to go with a flourocarbon leader 3-4 feet long.
If floating in deep water I will tip the mini-foo with waxworm or maggot.
