Steelhead Help

Hey guys-
I'm relatively new to the steelhead community and this is my first posting, so please bear with me if my questions sound novice.

In terms of bait what is a "mini-fu" and where can I get one. Also are there more maps avaible other than the ones on fish erie?

Just about any place you buy fishing tackle will have them, the maps on this site will get you anywhere you need to go,and if not, explore the area, google earth will give you a good overhead view.

mini - FOO rather.  you can buy them at any baitshop around the great lakes, if that's where you're fishing.
a little piece of advice....skip the foo's, get yourself some marabou jigs instead,
after that, start tying your own custom jigs

I am new to steelhead fishing also. Having a hard time made 2 trips this year to lower elk. First time nothing. Second time hooked 3 landed none. I tried alot of things. Last time up watched a  guy next to me. THe was constantly catching fish. I talked to him and he helped me. Thats when I got the 3  hookups. He had me using a  18 hook with brown trout egg sacks. But other guys all around me were crushing them so I am very confused about why? Any help would be appreciated.

the more time you spend fishing, the better you will become.Learn to read the water, good presentation, and putting what they want in front of them.Used to go out with 100's of different fly's,now down to 2 boxes. Steelheading is not rocket science, takes a little time, don't be afraid to ask anybody for help on the stream, most of us enjoy helping someone out.

watermelon is the color of the jig pin drifter was using.
unless he has resorted to throwing actual watermelons.....
