Out foxed by a squirrel --

Went out for a couple hours this afternoon looking for some more squirrel meat for stew....

After an hours wait in the wind a Gray Squirrel finally appeared..

as I reached for the shotgun he jumped behind a tree..

a minute passed ..

he stuck his head out and as I started to pull the hammer back he took off to the next tree and jumped around behind that tree...

I lowered the hammer and waited...

two minutes passed and he appeared from behind the tree..

hammer going back and off he goes again...

this time up a pine tree and around the back side.. chattering the whole way..... and never to appear again today..

Sure wish I understood squirrel lanuage...

was he laughing at me or just cussin me out for messin up his day ?????

Now how could any youngest NO ENJOY an adventure like that...
and I never even got a shot...and that is the only one I saw...
but I still had fun and have a story to tell about the trip into Penn's woods again...

    Dr.,
I squirrel hunt pretty regularly and have found squirrels to be about the cockiest critters on the face of the earth. Always playing a deadly game of  peek-a-boo. I want to ask them..."Don't you know who I am?".... mocking me with all that chattering....tic...tic...tic, as if to say "yes, i know who you are Elmer Fudd...right?" I love it as well, even when I get skunked.

I don't always snag fish, but when I do...
    I choose Little Cleos

I'm the best looking smartest snagging poacher alive...
