Question about baits for steelhead

Couple of questions about baits for steelhead...
  1. Anyone do any good with salted shiners for steelhead?  I usually fish live (well, fresh) shiners.  Curious to see if salted will work just as well.
  2. Freezing eggs and egg sacks.  I froze all of my left-over eggs and egg sacks from last year.  Will they be ok to use for this year?

Thanks.

Id say the shiners and egg sacs will work as for the singles im guessing thats what you have i think youll find they will turn white when they hit the water and the fish tend to shy away from them they work but not as good as fresh

I have used eggs that were frozen for up to 6 months and still worked fine.  Once they defrost they get their nice glow to them.  Once they start turning white in the water is when I change and put a fresh one on.

You should be fine with the egg sacks, I freeze mine too.
Salted minnies, I've never tried them, but wouldn't hurt to carry a bag with you and try them on a good bite day to see if they work.

salted minnies work well in the faster moving water. The steel don't have time to tell if it's alive or not. I haven't had much (any) luck with them in the slower holes.
