Waterfowling's Hidden Danger from an old duck hunter
Thirty one years ago I was duck hunting a set of beaver ponds in WV, I remember the day well because I called in a flock of red heads and shot one, that was my first duck.
Unfortunately, I picked up a nasty little parasite from that beaver pond that cost me 55 pounds in 7 days. I missed the entire WV trout season because of it.
So, limit hand to mouth activity, eating, tobacco whatever, especially in areas where beavers are present. Keep some Purell or antbiotic wipes and USE them .
I grew up in a culture of rabbit hunting and then deer hunting but I can say with certainty that a flock of ducks coming in, riding the wind from a Canadian front is geometrically the most difficult and rewarding shot in hunting.
