As soon as the last day of goose seaon ends, I already look forward to sept. 1st.  We killed a lot of birds last year.  8 bands in one shoot on opening day last year.   If anyone is looking for goose hunting equipment to buy, let me know.  Also, if anyone around the erie area would want to get together for a hunt next year, let me know.

Krott - I'd be down for something like that...I'm in Erie too.  I'm just getting started in goose hunting so I'm looking for tips, pointers and obviously some more experience.  What equipment do you have for sale?  I'm looking to get some silhouette decoys to add -- I've got a dozen shells right now and 4 floaters -- NEED MORE!

I usually run about 50 full bodys and some shells depending on the hunt.  Between the group I hunt with, we got about 6 dozen shells too.  I got a dozen more shells I'll let go, if you want them.

    Krott,
Just bought a camp in Erie this weekend.  I would definetly like to get together sometime up there and do some seriuos goosin.  I have 6 dozen shells of my own.  so we could put out one huge spread.  I mostly hunt the honkers in southwest PA and Pymy area (which has been sucking lately).  So anytime your looking to go in the fall I would be more than glad to join you.

Krott - how much for the shells and what brand are they?  You must have some serious $$$ invested in the full body decoys... I was looking around and most are around $80 to $120 for 4!

Ya, a buddy of mine worked at gander mountain awhile back and we both bought all the full bodys after the season with a discount too.  We got a lot then.  The shells im selling are carry lites, they were bought last summer and used once.  Make me an offer if you want them.  Ax, what kind of shells do you have??  Do you have a layout blind?

Krott -- are they the one-piece shells or the two-piece ones?  Also, what positions are they in, feeding, sentry?

    Thanks

    Krott,
All I use is the G&H standards.  3 dozen are brand new last year and some of the others are older.  I am in the process now of buying a layout blind just trying to find the right one for what I want.  Any suggestions on a layout blind?

    Krott-

I would definitely be interested in a goose hunt or two this season.  I live in Erie also.  I've been wanting to get into some goose/duck hunting and would like to hunt with someone that could show me the ropes.  Plus, I'll have my son with me this year (FINALLY!).  Couple of questions for you:
    • Do you always hunt them in fields, or do you ever hunt them over water?
    • When you hunt the fields, do you always use a layout blind, or do you ever use natural cover?

Also, might be interested in the shells, let me know what you want for them.  What other gear are you trying to get rid of?

I've used a bunch, I like the final approach blinds.  My favortie is the SUB..sport utility blind, folds up nice, lightweight, plenty of room, just an overall great blind.

I mostly hunt geese in fields, and usually use the layout blind.  If the field is cut real short, we might use burlap, so the blinds dont stick out as much, but for the most part were in blinds.  As for other equipment, I got a bunch of calls that are not being used if you interested, let me know.

What kind of calls do you have?  I have a flute style, might be interested in a short reed.
