Hurricane Ike and Steelies

Judging by the projected path and the jet stream currents running the way they are, things are looking good for the remnants of Hurricane Ike to hit the Lake Erie area pretty good. Hopefully it'll blow out the creek mouths enough to let the steelies come up strong. Temps also drop dramatically after a hurricane passes through so this could be the kicker that sets it all off. Maybe? Tight lines and keep an eye on this one guys.

The following is from WIVB's weather blog, written by meterolgist Don Paul :

Once Ike moves inland over TX, its future movement after impacting TX and probably OK is uncertain. However, NCEP (National Centers for Environmental Prediction--NWS HQ)reminds us climatology shows that few storms which make landfall all the way over into TX make a truly successful trip all the way toward the E Coast. In any case, models do weaken Ike to a minor system if and when it reaches more northern latitude, so the chance of a significant impact in WNY currently look low, though not nonexistent.

So, I wouldn't hold my breath too long.
