Somewhere to Stay around the Catt/PA Line

Hey guys. Here's the situation. Was planning on maybe going up to the Cattauragus and the streams below it to the PA line for steelhead the weekend of November 22-24 and would be coming by myself. Being a college guy and carrying on the tradition of college guys with no money, I only have enough cash for the gas/food/fishing supplies while i'm there and not so much a $80 bucks a night for hotel room for just me. If my single cab Tacoma had more room, I'd just sleep in it somewhere(which the bed of the truck and my -10 degree sleeping bag isn't sounding so bad right now). Basically I just want to go up and can't get anyone to go with me so was wondering if there were any tent camping sites around or if you could just throw up a tent anywhere it wasn't posted(such as an old river/creek road somewhere). Thanks ahead of time for any info you can give me.

Too cold, Too snowy to sleep in a truck. I've done it.
Try some cheaper hotels around Irvine NY. The money
spent will make the trip much more enjoyable.

Ha. Thanks hivue. I've done the truck sleep thing before and don't mind it(I gotta good sleeping bag), but it is a little cramped so I was looking for a campground or something but I've found nothing. How cheap are we talking for a hotel in Irvine? The cheapest I've found so far was like $65 after my fed.employee discount. Any mom n' pop places around there?

There are a few  Mom n Pops hotels along the Chautauqua county section of Lake Erie--  from Riply to Fredonia.  In Wesfield there is Holiday Motel 716-326-3741 and the Theater Motel 716-326-2161 and in Riply try the Pines Motel 716-789-3543. There are also many campgrounds along the same section. Some may offer trailers/campers for a cheap nites stay- try  Blue Water Beach Campground in Westfield 716-326-3540, Also in Wesstfield is Brookside Beach 716-326-3096, a KOA 716-326-3573, and Ryan's Campground 716-326-3550. And  Lake Erie State Park in Brocton 716-792-4229.

Thanks Kas. Im thinking a campground would be the best bet since it's just me and i enjoy sleeping in a tent anyway. I'll give some of those places a try and i'm sure one will produce. Again thanks and the info is greatly appreciated.

Brown trt,  Conditions can be really dicey up there that late in the year.  Unless you are prepared for and have some experiance winter camping, find a cheap hotel. If you get wet there may be no place to get dry quickly. Just going alone to the Catt in late Nov. is not advisable. Advertise for a buddy with a camper at least. Good Luck

neaphyte, we were up in feb this past winter and saw some crazy temps and snow(lots of it). ...wow..yeah...cold stuff...but the truck thing is more of a last resort(believe me)...i do camp,in tents(or just under a tarp) in the winter and in snow sometimes. i basically live outside so i'm used to the weather/elements.  so it would probably be there but still...its looking like one of my friends wants to go really bad so i think he's gonna go and we'll go in halves on a hotel(which is awesome, cause the truck was looking a little cramped..haha)..but thanks for the advice and believe me, its all soaking in....especially about the being alone on the catt...

Good, then I would suggest the Micro-tel in Springville, I have stayed there before. Easy access to the Catt and that other stream you mentioned {please don't repeat it}..... Camping along the Catt in Feb.. I can't imagine.  You must be 20 and full of young male hunter gatherer harmones.
