does anyone fish wills creek in somerset for trout this time of year? does it stay cold enough?  Id like to do some camping, swimming, and some summer trout fishing before fall gets here, and that area is really nice.

I don't know about the trout, but be very careful as the area is known for high numbers of copperheads & rattlers. We used to hunt them there & found quite a few.  sam

I have not fished it in about 3 weeks or so due to low water.  I caught a good number of trout in July, heard a rattle but did not see the snake.  By what I could see in the low water, there were not many fish left in the areas I was at anyways.  I agree it looks like a great area for snakes.

It is a very snakey place. More water snakes than you might like and enough rattlers & copperheads to keep things interesting.
Watch where you put your hands and where you're walking.
Water is very low and warm.

I haven't been there this summer, but there is usually enough water to keep the deep holes up from the tressle cool.  I've spooked fish that were able to hold over in Wills' feeder streams (shafer & brush) when the water was virtually stagnant so I'm sure there are a few active fish in the main creek.
