Sweet, almost makes me wonder if I spend too much time chasing them on Arthur!

Not like going down to the pond for tommycats and bluegills...

My cousin and I have caught 24 stripers in 4 hrs. at Auther. Thats not too bad for a tough lake. The quality was the same as Shenango. Actually had the water cops stop and watch us. Asked what we were using. I told them night crawlers. Would I lie?

Been there, done that too. Numerous times in the last 5 years. When they chase the baitfish up to the top, you catch one on every cast. Doesn't matter what type of bait you use either. I used a spinnerbait and after they ate the skirt off, i put a 3" twister on it and kept hammering them. Action should start in a couple weeks. I'm going to be sure to take some pictures this year.

I saw a 13# 9oz wiper that came out of the spillway at Pymatuning this spring.  That's a BIG wiper.

We used to fish for them when I lived in Tennessee in the TVA lakes with live bluegills (catch an occassional giant flathead too) a hawg was anything over 10#.

We have our family reunion on the north shore every year and last year I took my yak. Put in by the marina and smacked 10 then let my brother go out and smacked 5. We used a saltwater double twister in chartruese and had a blast.

I've seen it (the "jump") more in the late summer, early fall Parker.  At least on Conneaut Lake.  By October they vertical jig spoons for some piggy whities on Conneaut.  The last 2 state records have come from there.  I caught one 3 years ago that was just a few ounces shy by accident.

In TN, we used to see a lot of "jump" fishing in May and early June, especially early am and late pm.

I don't know if anybody knows this, but there is NO STATE RECORD for "wipers" or hybrid white bass in the state of PA.  I am certain that the 13# plus I saw at the bait shop this spring from Pymy would have been one if not EXTREMELY close.

Called the PFBC on it to inquire and they state that they don't keep records for hybrid species because there would have to be too much clarification.  Apparently Sea Run Striped Bass in the southeast corner of the state sometimes naturally cross breed with white perch and they are called "sperch"  so they really couldn't clarify a Striped Bass hybrid, despite the fact that LOTS of other states classify the "wiper" as a white bass hybrid.

If there were a state record for PA, 13 pounds wouldn't cut it. That's as big as I've ever caught, but I've seen some caught much bigger.
