Does anyone know any water where i can do some quality pike and muskie fishing? I would like to try keystone state park because i heard they used to stock tiger muskie in there and its not far away. Has anyone ever seen them there?

Also I heard Keystone power dam was a good place. Whats some lures to try for them. I was thinking mepps spinners and husky jerks.

Thanks for any input

You'd probably be wasting your time at Keystone State Park. They did used to stock them there and there are some left (as shown by the recent biological survey), but I havent heard of people catching them and I've never seen or caught one.

Keystone Power Dam is probably the best muskie fishery around.

I don't think "quality pike and musky fishing" exists in SWPA.

I agree with that statement. Of course you can catch them around the rivers here, and guys certainly do here and there, but not consistently. Keystone Power Dam has a lot of them, but mostly puny ones. Of course there are a couple big ones there, and in the rivers here(I caught a huge one on the Lower Yough myself), but for a better chance at a big one, Northwest Pa. lakes, and sections of the Allegheny there are much better choices.

well keystone has some 50+ inch musky in it
but when ever they refill high point lake, not only is it a great bass lake, but a great pike lake as well, just make sure the water is up because right now they are pulling it down to try and kill some of the weeds, because they had a weed problem, either way a great pike lake

High Point isn't a good place if your hunting trophies....I caught some really nice ones out of the Yough River Lake trolling suckers and big **** lures around.

for 25-32" musky in western pa KPD and tamarack are the first to come to mind. if you want trophy musky the first two would be arthur and pymatuning although KPD has some big fish mixed in

for hammer handle pike high point, yellow creek, the upper allegheny river and a ton of other places for that matter. for trophy pike.........go to canada or eastern europe

I agree with what plnoldrick said; without a doubt Arthur and Pymatuning are the top lakes in the western part of the state, and probably the best in the entire state for trophy muskies.  Find some weedy bays adjacent to deep water or feeding flats and fish them very thoroughly with any large shallow crank, bucktail, and for some real fun try some topwaters.  The lower Allegheny also has been known to give up some giant fish, although I personally have not put much time in there.

For Pike, Yellow Creek Lake holds alot of them, as long as you don't mind catching smaller fish (less than 30").  Presque Isle, Allegheny Res., and the upper Allegheny River will give you a better shot at a larger fish.

Loyalhanna Lake does have a decent population of Muskies but no Pike that I know of.  The Fish Commission stocks the lake.  Had a huge Musky hooked there a few years ago but nothing since.  I have had better luck at Keystone Power Dam.  My best this year has been 36".  These are tiger's.  The Yough River has an improving population of Musky and Pike.

I have heard that Somerset Lake has a nice population of musky in it. It is listed as one of the top musky fisheries in the state!
