so, me and my friends are trying to take up fishing as a hobby.  we fish at local ponds and resevoirs around our city.  i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for good lures that can be used to catch small mouth bass. thanks!

jigs are great, especially with a twister.  my personal favorite is a size 5-7-9 silver or chrome floating rapala.  i have used these for so long that even my daughter calls me rapman at times.  small swivel instead of a knot.

You aren't going to catch may smallies there.  Smallies like moving (rocky) rivers and creeks and big lakes, like Erie.  The ponds are more likely to hold largemouth.

To answer your question though , the most popular smallie lures:

noisy buzzbaits
plastic worms
spinnerbaits
jigs & grubs
rapalas
tubes
