Hey y'all,

I lost my last fishing partner, I've only really had two, yesterday. My best friend died. He died the same way my brother, my other fishing partner, died 2 years ago. Failure to treat high blood pressure and to follow doctors orders.

He' has also left behind what my brother did, a grieving widow and a 5 year old boy now with no dad in a world that seeks the fatherless to make them over in it's own image.

And me, without either of the guys I most liked to share time with.

And it didn't have to happen.

Would you please pray for his widow, she's 36, they were married 14 years next month, and for his son as well and for me, however I can serve in their lives.

Advice? Guys, if you know something is wrong, if your doctor has told you what needs to happen, remember that whatever reason you think you have for blowing it off, you might end up leaving a huge gaping hole in the lives of people you say you love, and that isn't love. Remember to keep your insurance up to date, and teach your wives how to handle things in the event something should happen to you.

Tomorrow is NEVER promised to any of us.

My friend is a Christian, so I know I'll see him again in the end. My hope is that you will be there too. Don't waste a day my friends.

Tight lines to you all,

~Mark

Sorry to hear. Losing good friends is tough. Lost mine this year the same way... Didn't follow up on what the doc said.

Good solid advice.

Our thoughts are with both families.

Mark, I am sorry for the family's and your loss. My prayers are with each of you. Losing best friends is hard and there are no words and no amount of time that will ever make us forget them. Relish the memories and the times spent with them. All we can hope for is to meet them again sometime in the future. Griffon

Sorry to hear that, I bet most of us have taken doctor's advice more lightly than we should at times. I've lost two good friends this year, one to cancer and the other to suicide (there's a great post that resulted from this one). Nothing anyone can say makes it any easier, but life does indeed go on. My thoughts and prayers are with you and their families.

I dug up that old thread, it'll bring a tear to your eye, but it's worth reading.
