I wish there had been more water in the streams and the fish that were around would have been more cooperative, but still I had a pretty good time.  I hope everyone had fun and enjoyed themselves.  Good to all for a great steelhead season.

A special thanks to those who put this all together today.   The time was great.  It was really outstanding to see that noone left empty handed espically the kids. You should be very pround of yourself and there needs to be more like you in the world.  Just a special thanks and good luck to you all in the upcoming days on the banks of the erie streams.

i can't say that i have ever been with a better group of folks.  i was sincere when i said that you all were like family.  the first thing i do in the morning is open this site and it is the last one i look at before hitting the rack.  so many have shared so much info and advice that i could never say thanks enough.

dano and bug spent a lot of time with me today, teaching a novice the nuances of flyfishing.  what they showed me could never be shown in books or videos.  i really appreciate the time you took out of your day to work with me.

skip and his wife are to be commended for their hard work also.  they never left the pavillion.  from set up to clean up, it fell on their shoulders.  man, what a spread.  again, the event would never have happened as it did without their energies and hard work.

to everyone whom i met or who donated time or merchandise, i say again, thank you.  saw some familiar faces, many newer ones, some young, some not as young, but what a group.  guess we all share a bond that politics can't infringe on.

indy, you should have been a ceo.  you ran the event like an mc and kept everyone smiling.  not many people can see their legacy while they are still alive.  the fact that so many turned out compliments your being.  it's a shame that this can only be done once a year.

i want to thank jack and the others for the rod.  we have talked in the past about bamboo rods and i lamented the fact that i could never see my father, cigarette hanging from his lips, casting his old cane rod.  the idea of ever owning such a rod was not reality.  guys like me fish with graphite, at best.  now that i am the proud owner of one, i am too afraid to use it.  art like that should hang on the wall.  for one of the few times in my life, words failed me.  (my wife would have been clicking her heals).  just couldn't say anything.  honestly speaking, this day will hang with me until my last days.

i hope to see all my new friends, as well as old, on the streams again.  thanks for making this such a special day.  i hope each one of you can have one moment in the sun like this.  again, thank you........................

I echo all of the above. I had the best time and never caught a fish. Cheers and hats off to Jack and all the gang for a truly memorable day. Great food, great people, and fishing. It doesn't get any better than that.

its been said above, but it can't be said enough, thanks to all who had a hand in this.  It was great to get together.
My whole perspective on fishing in erie has changed.  I used to worry a lot about getting to the best spot, catching lots of fish, and not really enjoying others company as well as God's creation.  I can honestly say that you all have helped me change that.  I still want to catch fish when I go, but there are more important things, I am learning that.  Great time.

I don't know... Winning by a goby does seem kind of cheap.  lol.  It was a great time.   The fish still weren't cooperating this evening when I was on the stream.  The water is just too low.  It's lower now than 3 weeks ago when I went up in September... Anyways, my deepest gratitude to everyone who donated and assisted in pulling this event off.  I told my friend it's probably the only event where someone could borrow a fly rod and a couple flies, and depending on how you did with fish and the drawing, leave with their own personal set up complete with flies.  Not only that, but you get to spend some time with MANY great people.   I hope to see all of you on the stream when we get more water.  Thanks again Jack, Skip, Bug, and all those who helped.  Rapala, g'luck with everything and have fun with that rod.

hey jerry, they make a spring run and the females really get big, not uncommon to get them up to seven inches.

from what i read and saw, anyone who can land a steelhead on a fly rod, let alone three like dt and worm-waster, you have to be one heck of an angler.

What can I say??!!??  Jerry and "here fishy fishy" John, really enjoyed fishing with you! I could go on and on! (right John? ) Rich it was nice to talk with you, hope we can get together again soon and will keep you in my prayers on your upcoming proceedure. I have faith you will do fine. My daughter hopes who ever got the walking stick enjoys it and will she hopefully be able to attend next year. Again, thanks to all.

I don't know if my patch would be done for a tattoo... but if you want the original image let me know.    It's cleaner and would make a pretty nice tat.

As to Jerry going goby hunting... He said he was going back down to wreak his wrath, I mean catch, more of those steel after the event.    He's probably still down there reeling them in, or trying to get that HUGE nightcrawler to use next year as a tiebreaker.  lol.

Thanks everyone for supporting the patch.  I appreciate how everyone stepped up and kept to their orders.  This is the first time I paid for something up front and only had a few left.  I feel they are a great success and a badge of honor (poor cat... lol).  Wear them with pride, and you may just run into those of us on the stream sometime.  A lot easier than walking up to someone and going, "Hey, you on the erie boards?"  Really cuts down on those strange looks.  lol.

Man looks like I missed out on a good time.
I'd love to make it this next year, and rapalas right, this place is like my second home, from morning to night I frequent this place, and I wonder what I've missed when I can't be on all the time, like this past few days!

Jerry,

Did Dreamcatcher ever get those feathers put on that flatfish for next years event? lol

Great meeting all of you guys.  Now the only problem is that all you fly guys may have converted a noodler over to buying a fly rod now.

ax, i know he's ordering two for next year. i think i should be able to add chennil, feathers, marabou, and flash to make that flat fish look like an overstuffed, over fed.      'GOBY'

You would if if would have been able to win you some serious prize-age.   Not sure whats worse, a goby or a deceased giant crawler.

Btw, FisherChic, didnt get to introduce myself up there, but it looked like you had some very nice ink as well.   I myself wont be getting any tatoos until they figure out how to do it without needles.  I have the biggest needle phobia around.  I dont even like using them to float crawlers!

thanks cold! I didn't get the chance to officially meet a lot of people.
the needles aren't all that bad if you just relax and think of something else
many people have needle phobia and still get tattoos.
