Jon and his friends/family are not high fence hunters. They scout year round, and it pays off.

Pay no attention to ZugBug.  He has a history of being an outlaw and a poacher that go a long way back on these boards.  Unfortunately for viewing pleasure... his illegalities were deleted by the moderator at the time (rightly so, but not until PGC was aware of him).  He has always hated the PGC and has always been jealous of ANYONE who ever shot a decent buck in PA.  He is certainly noone to judge any sportsman.  FYI, that is a beautiful buck.  Congratulations to that young man, may he shoot a bigger one next year.

I didn't shoot the deer fellas.  Guy named Sam from over near Penn's cave.  I'd imagine private property.  I've seen a few on central PA public land like that.  Only get to see them once however, during the rut, spotting.  I've yet to see a 5.5 on hoof on public land.  Probably never will.  Most don't get the chance to 5.5.   Only info. I have on it is that he filmed the deer for three years, shot it the first morning, 26 yards.  We'll probably hear more about it. ...  "The Woodward Buck"

wow, some pretty slanderous accusations there Griff....I guess you needn't burden yourself with any proof.  I am continually amazed by your infallable expertise and your moral superiority.  I especially appreciate your ethics lessons...

I couldn't care less that this guy shot this buck on a preserve...just don't put it out there as a shining example of what's Alt's DM policies have provided us.  The same guy is photographed on QH's website with another monster he shot there, so I asked a legitimate question.  If you have a problem with that; so much the better.

And as far as the PGC being aware of my 'illegal' activities, I've got nothing to hide....let 'em come!  You, on the other hand, can go pound salt....

It does look like him.  Buddy just emailed me back said it's not him.  I don't know..

Zug-- Before you start claiming I posted this pic and pointed out anything about Alt, PGC deer program, or anything, you should read the post.  Nowhere, did I say anything about that.   Because I know I didn't verify it.   Now, I have verified it in the past when I have seen, missed, killed, or saw the buck before it was killed.  And I will continue to do so, when I can verify it.  I couldn't here, so I didn't attempt to.

kype....I've got no issue with you, and I didn't mean to imply that you were putting this out there as a testimonial for the success of PGC's DM policies.  I was merely asking a question, that's all.  If this deer did come from QH, which guarantees their hunts, and he paid 6 grand for this deer like the pay scale suggests it would have, it's less impressive in my opinion......If it did not; I am mistaken and will gladly admit that.

Now I can sit back and let Griff school me on the virtues and legitimacy of canned hunts....I'm all a-tingle with anticipation

I agree, it's practically meaningless if it came from a canned hunt.  I emailed Quest Haven the pic and asked.  Maybe we'll see.

There is no legitimacy or virtue in a canned hunt.  At least we agree on that.  I do not know anything about this deer.  I hope he took it legitimately.

Just to let all on here know this guy has so many P&Y and B&C it's not even funny. I've been in his house and his trophy room, and on my old camera before I dropped it in the water had pictures of them on it. He does do most of his hunting in Ohio, where he has a bunch of ground at, and he owns a big chunk of mountain behind his house near Woodward. Very nice guy, and i can guarantee you he did not pay to hunt for that, and that it was fair chase. Have a nice day

Sorry man I was being a smart arse above.  I too have seen plenty of giants in PA from areas that are not high-fence.  I have encountered 2 bucks in the 150+ class while hunting and nerves got the best of me both times!!  Good luck on the giant you have been seeing this year, I expect to see some pictures after you take him!!
