Status: offline 		When i get my next paycheck i'm buyin a new bow, was lookin into either Bowtech or Hoyt, anyone got any reviews for me on what they have and if they like it or not and i'm not a joining the Matthews fanclub so their outta the question.

Status: online 		Bowtech had a recall on their 08 bows 60-70# draw weight.  Make sure to ask if the limbs are machined correctly.

Status: offline 		I have a Reflex Growler (Hoyts cheap line similar to their Avenger) Its a 32" axle to axle Cam and a Half 70lb bow and shoots great and is very light.  Came with the limbsavers between the limbs, on the frame, and I added a S-Coil stabilizer to it as weill. I got it for a great price as well.  Only thing i would like to update is the cheapy 3 pin Tru-Glo sights, but they work well and i added the light to them as well to give them more brightness for a very early morning or late evening shot.

I was never a fan of Bowtech for some reason....I know alot of guys love them, and im sure their top end bows are awesome, but I didnt find much at that $500 range that i was a fan of.

One thing you will notice about a Hoyt,  Reflex, or any cam and a half bow is that locking point on full draw is very very small....Thats about the only thing that takes getting used to.

Status: online 		Either of those two make excellent bows.  Go to your local pro shop and shoot them, that's the only way to get what you really want.  Acorn archery in New Castle, carries both and will let you shoot whatever.

Status: offline 		All of the bow manufacturers make quality bows these days. It's all in the shooter and what you shoot the best. I have owned a couple Martin bows and would not overlook them. They make some great shooting bows at a good price. I'm shooting a Hoyt Katera XL right now and can say that it is the most accurate I have ever shot. I prefer a longer ATA bow. Smooth, forgiving and shoots bullets.

Status: offline 		Either I have an extremely light bow, or the new Hoyt's are heavy.  Don't get me wrong, they shoot great, but they definitely make lighter bows.  If you happen to get a 2008 Reflex catalogue from the dealer, I'm in a bunch of the pictures "striking a pose"lol!  Right below Chuck Adams on inside front page.

Yea but a good bow is like a good rifle...bite the bullet and it will give you YEARS of service...hell i have a pre 1950s Winchester 30-06 rifle that still drives tacks with open sights...

Hunting is still cheaper than fishing...lol

Status: offline 		I actually like a little heavier bow. I feel I can hold better on target. In all actuality there is only around a 1 pound difference between the lightest and heaviest bows out there.

Status: offline 		I currenty shoot a Hoyt Razortec I bought a couple years ago.  Overall I love the bow it is fast, forgiving, no recoil, and has an awesome feel to the backwall.  The 2 major things I don't care for is that it is noisier than most bows and secondly, like mentioned above, it is heavier than any other bow I have felt in that price range.  I think if I had to do it over again I woulda just bought the Matthews Switchback; light, quiet, and quick, which are all great attributes to a solid hunting bow.

Status: offline 		If you are wanting to get a new hoyt or bowtech than you have two really good choices to choose from. I have talked to the guys at my local bow shop alot about the new bowtechs and hoyts. I would say that you will either want to go with the Hoyt Katera or the Bowtech General. They both are fast, smooth, and quiet. I like the way both of the bows look and shot. The General is alittle smoother than the katera and I mean just alittle bit. I have shot both bows and have seen the bows chronographed with the same arrow and the Katera is about 10 fps fast than the general and is just as quiet. If I had to choose I would pick the Katera because its almooost just as smooth and it is faster. You could also go with the Bowtech Airbone line but they are not as forgiving and are harder to hold tight groups with. Just go and shot the two bows and choose with one fits you the best. Most shops will let you shot the bows first and will probably even chrono them so you can see the differences in speeds. I hope this helps you.

Status: offline 		I could hook u up with a sweet deal on a reflex timber wolf I got it a few yeas ago sighted it it and that was all it was shootfully set up with fiber sights ,stablizer,wisker buisket rest 6 carbon arrows for 225 60 to 70 lb

Status: offline 		Put out flyers at local post boards places like the archery shops or even supermarkets. Can't hurt and maybe you'll find a deal. Usually the people contacting you underestimate what they have and really haven't thought about selling the bow, just left it in the basement. Might find one you want and even get to shoot it in the backyard of the seller.JMO

Status: offline 		Over the past year, i've shot the new pse x-force, the diamond black ice, the mathews dxt & switchback, and a few others I can't think of right now. They were all sweet shooters, but out of all of them, the pse x force was by far the fastest, and it was just as smooth as the others. I think a lot of people are still overlooking pse.

On the other hand, there are plenty of good bows out there that don't cost $700 or more. My bowtech is now on it's third year, cost me a little over $500, and shoots just as well as any other bow i've ever shot. I'm not all that convinced $700-800 dollars is worth it for a bow that I will probably replace after 3 years anyway.

Don't buy a bow just for the name on it. Several years ago, I would have said Mathews are the best, period. That's no longer true, as most companies make top notch bows. It's not that Mathews has been slacking, it's that other companies have done their homework.

Status: online 		Matthews are nice but not the be all end all that they claim to be....Bowtec's are just a good if not better and Hoyt is always a great product, shop around and shoot several brands, because the first one you shoot will feel so much better than what you are used to that you need to shoot several models to get used to the new bows.

Status: online 		My brother went to Wal Mart and bought a piece of crap kit and he shoots fine! Smooth? Probably not Quiet? NO Vibration? YES Is he a serious archery hunter? NO Has he ever harvested an animal with? NO Is the bow capable of killing? For Sure

I agree that technology has come a long way in just the last 2 or 3 years. My opinion when I bought my Matthews 3 or 4 years ago they were leading technology. My cousin shoots a PSE, and My uncle and a couple friends shoot Hoyt, and another friens of mine shoots a Matthew's in the woods and a Bow Tech at 3D shoots. I would agree with go shoot the bows and see what your comfortable with. Make sure it's quiet. I owned a Proline Riptide prior to my Matthews (1994 model) and it was loud, almost sounded like a small caliber gun being fired. I've shot many of deer with my Matthewsthat never flinched as well as the other deer in the area never herd the shot and stayed around for over 30 minutes after I shot the deer. I would also look at the weight and length of the bow. I do alot of walking and wish I could shoot a shorter bow that I could tuck away easier. Also for hiding it while sneaking around in Allegheny County. I would highly recommend Shooters Showcase near Slippery Rock, The owners work there and all the people are hunters and know the equipment they sell. Also very reasonable prices and very honest. They also have a nice buck pool! (Never won it though, seems the archers that deal there spned alot of time in the woods that get some fine buck!) Good Luck with your purchase and decision hope you bag a monster this year! I did bag the biggest buck so far the far year I shot my Matthews guess thats why I like it so much!

Status: offline 		hardcore fisher i shoot alot of compitition archery and work on alot of bows so let me tell you there is NO such thing is a better bow be picky look at all of the makes buy the one that best fits you and has the most comfort for you some say buy mathews or a hoyt or pse but look at all the specs they all shoot around the same

Status: offline 		I purchased a new Martin Firecat last month and I am in full love with it. It's light, has a 33" axle to axle, smooth as hell, and is quiet and quick. I'd def recommend checking them out and they are far more affordable and nicer in my opinion than a lot of others.
