Steelheading has always been a great, and I mean great, experience. Reguardless of where I'm fishing. Yes, I hang out near Walnut Creek access early in the season, but I also fish way up on Elk during the late fall and winter. And I enjoy it all. While I'm fishing Walnut early, I enjoy seeing the fish, watching people catch them and the interaction with other anglers (yes they are anglers, not animals at the zoo, as is commonly believed). I think that a person's goals should be different depending on where they are fishing. If they go to the lower stretches of the popular streams, they cannot just have the plan of catching fish, you have to enjoy the entire experience. Anyway, here are my goals for this season... -Steelhead in the lake on my float tube. This should be good. Sink tips and big streamers. -To get out more than ever. This is gonna take a lot of work, because I was fishing at least 3-4 times a week last year, but I think I'll manage... -To keep a detailed log of every, or most, days fishing. This is a little out there, but should be fun and give me something to compare seasons with, and bring back memories in the off season. -Be more prepared, and relaxed. It's hard to do with these fish, they really get me going. But, I need to keep up on my fly tying and make sure that I have enough tippet, splitshot...etc. Running out of this essential stuff caused me to end way too many days earlier than planned. Good luck everyone, and have fun. (Even if you're deer hunting) Mike
