Where are you coming from,  depending on where you are I'm sure some of us could give you a few suggestions.

How far do you want to float?  Do you have a buddy to go with to drop off a car?  You can put in at West Newton and float down to just about anywhere; Sutersville, Turner Valley, Coulter, Little Boston, the point at Mckeesport...Or, you can go further up river and floar down.  Unless you want the extra exercise, rowing upstream doesn't seem like too much fun to me, especially in this heat.

how far are you willing to drive?

Drive up to Parker and have the livery service shuttle you up the Allegheny River (Emlenton or further up).  Great area to fish or just float.  Stop at Foxburg for a great lunch if you don't want to pack a bag lunch.

Forget putting in at McKeesport unless you want your kayak to smell like crap after you get so far upriver.  Yes, Elizabeth Township is still pouring millions of gallons of raw sewage into the Yough.  They are turning that stretch from Buena Vista to about Alpsville into a cesspool. It has the best fed and greenest algae the Yough River has to offer.  It is fairly watered down by the time it gets to little Boston but I still wouldn't want to swim in it. And don't forget the alligators.  A couple of years ago (or maybe last year) a guy I know caught an Alligator in the Yough under the Boston Bridge.

Try Gander Mountain.  They have about 30 kayaks in the parking lot, shouldn't be too hard to catch one.

I'd try Glade Run Lake. Now I can't give you a up-to-date status of the lake, because I haven't been there in a month but its a very good trout lake, and known for having a large population of bass. They stock it 2-3 times a year with rainbows down by the dock, and branch of towards the middle of the lake normally. It is a very big lake! Yet is almost under fished for its conditions. Give it a try!
