Question ? How many people in Wash. and surrounding area read the article in the PA. Outdoor News about a Leaser Lake in Lehigh Co. Let me tell you that this really Pi--es me off. According to this article the Boat and Fish Comm. are draining this lake because of leaking breastworks over the next year. Then their going to let it sit for a year then going to rebuiled it the following year at a cost of almost 6 mill. The money is comeing mostly from Eddie Randell $4.8 mill DCNR $750 thou. $2.25 mill from Growing Greener and the Fish and Boat Comm. $1.75 mill and $1.8 mill from state capital budget & $500 thou from Lehigh Co.
Next Question? What are the people of this area? We have been without Dutch fork for how many years now?
The forgotten few. I my self attended meetings with people from the Fish & Boat Comm. and heard them say time and again that they new of way to seek the money to repair Duch Fork.
Seems fishey that they somehow they find the money to repair lakes when they want or Do you think it may be Political

The process is partly political, partly practical.  Leaser lake is near a big population center and is used for more than just fishing.  There is a lot of open gamelands adjacent to it.  And, it is a big lake that can sustain more traffic than Dutch fork could.  In that respect, it is going to cost the same amount to repair either, then I'd repair the one that impacts the most people and activities.

Additionally, most of the money is NOT coming from the F&BC.  As you said, most of it is coming from state budget.  So the state has a say in where it is spent.  In that respect, there isn't much pull to have dutch fork opened as it is a ways from population centers and isn't used by that many people.  That's what made it nice to fish, but also what will keep it from being opened again.

Thanks
Rick
