Snag_826 -> Pine creek cement truck accident (7/8/2008 9:04:33 PM)

Earlier today a cement truck flipped over and into one of my favorite fishing spots off of elfinwild road. Unfortunatly the man driving the truck was killed. Happened to drive past earlier and rescue crews were still hard at work trying to remove the truck. Looked like a huge mess. Do you think this poses as much of a threat to the area downstream from the accident?

My sympathy goes out to the family members of the victim.

Probably not too big a deal downstream.  All of the construction that has been done above has silted the water and warmed the temps so much that generally most of the fish still in the creek are temperate species (I am sure that a few trout will be holding over in some of the deeper holes).  Also, the rains we have received over the last 12 hours certainly would have flushed any pollutants into the Allegheny.  Pine Creek has certainly had it share of challenges the last few years, not the least of which was the floods a couple years back that brought the creek over Rte. 8.  That flood did a lot of damage to the creek and it is still trying to recover.  There is still minimal crustacean and insect life under the rocks which were scoured and there were a ton of pollutants dropped in at the time, so this little drop in the bucket should not be too significant.
