rapala11 -> shimano spinning reels..... (7/8/2008 7:35:03 AM)

anyone know what is going on with them?  symetres, saharas, and some of the graphite bodied reels are on sale at different places.  are they just revamping or doing away with these lines?  everything at the ends of these reels are inexpensive or real expensive.

Add Sedonas to that list too, sitting in the bargain bin at Gander Mtn. along with a few Daiwa 400-Bi baitcasters...thinking about picking up a Sahara or a 400-Bi...or both! [;)]

I just talked to a factory rep. new stuff is coming out the end of July so they are making room I guess for it.

Are the Sahara and Symetre  the same reel-but Sahara  made out of cheaper parts?

Hmm...I stopped by to get at least one Sahara...but couldnt make up my mind...AND realized they'd only marked the 2500s down by about $5 (while putting them in a bin and surrounding them with red tags as if they were giving them out free [8|]).  Eventually I ended up...getting a rod instead! [:D] Got a Rapala casting rod to use with the baitcaster I got earlier this summer but until now had used on my Ugly Stik.  The setup was starting to play havoc on my wrist, so I got a rod designed for it.  $15 for a Rapala rod sounded like a slightly better deal than the Saharas anyway [:D].

Woodlands World in Uniontown has Saharas fo $48.88.   Got one a couple of days ago.  They had quite a few left.

Turns out I might be getting one after all, but a 750 instead.  The past few days this week my ultralight reel is getting rough, and last night it was even sticking a bit.  I might tear it apart, but I think the Sahara will be a good investment regardless of the fate of my current reel.

i have a couple saharas and symetres and have only had trouble once.  my opinion is just that, but i think they are both decent reels.
