Wife wanted to go shopping with the little ones so I got a hall pass mid-day yesterday. Launched at Coulter around 2pm and fished until 5:20pm. Went upstream as far as I dared (made it through the fast water above coulter) but bumped bottom just below the turner valley stinkpipe. There was another boat drifting down upstream of me. Hopefully he didn't think I was cutting him off. Anyone know where there is a channel to follow above the rapids between coulter and turner valley? Do I need to stick to the left side? By the way, I have a 14' semi v with a 15 horse short shaft so I only need a little over a foot of H2O. Anyways, drifted down from there pitching carolina rigged live bait (leeches and worms) and landed about a dozen smallies from 7" to 12", about that many rock bass, a sheepshead, a mooneye (I think) and a 24" channel cat. Probably lost half a dozen each of the rb and smallies right at the boat too. Fun quick trip. Still want to figure out the eyes and sauger in there and probably should have concentrated on the deeper water in front of coulter and on down. Always next time.
