this time of year if the water is in normal condition then you might pick up some carp and cats.  There may be some bluegill and small bass around.  There is always a chance of catching small hybrids, rockbass, and even walleye year round, though it would be a random straggler for the most part.

Worms and doughball will be your best bet, fish them on a sliding sinker and try to keep your casts in the channel, not up on the flat.  The mouth of pigeon creek (in the river) is a big mud flat.  If you look closely you can pick out where the creek channel cuts through and that will show you where the fish will travel.

Watch on the RR tracks.  People are getting fined for even crossing them.

thanks,
rick

Definatly don't tresspass on the railroad ROW, especially on the bridge near the mouth or all the way up to Bentleyville, NS has zero tolerance for tresspassing, as for fishing Pigeon Creek, there is a nice hole with a wall right about under the route 43 bridge, i have caught sauger, crappie, trout, carp and bass out of that hole, theirs also a nice hole right beside old Bentleyville campground, in Bentleyville theirs 2 nice holes in Richardson Park, right in town upstream from Foxs Pizza is another and finally in Ellsworth down by Beer Here where the railroad crosses above, their is a nice hole and where the spillway is from Ellsworth Dam is also nice for carp an cats.

In Ellsworth from the spillway downstream I've mainly caught catfish, carp, bluegill and even a few snapping turtles fishing mainly worms.   The areas that are stocked in the spring will usually hold trout until June.  Past Richardson park downstream towards the highway you get some better water with more variety.  I've caught sauger, walleye, crappie etc. down there as Ronnie stated.

I haven't been down there for a few years now. It was about 5-7 years ago that it was posted from Stogglestown bridge down on the Peno's side. Not sure how far down it was posted because there were no signs if you came up from the bottom. At the time there were a few stakes along the RR ties at the pull off that had posted signs on it plus a few trees down along the stream. But like I said, I haven't been down there in a few years now since moving away.

Thanks
Rick

kdd,

probably nothing wrong.  It isn't a spectacular spot in the best of times.  There are better places if you just want to plunk out a piece of bait.

thanks,
rick
