i been listening and reading alot of these political speeches coming from obama,, and he is truly a far left marxist,,,, i am tired of being told by him that we got to change our way of life,,, he talks about our SUV'S,, HE TALKS ABOUT US EATING WHATEVER AND WHENEVER WE WANT, he says we have the luxury of keeping our thermostat on 72 year round,,,, constantly bashing the upper class,,, hell he dont mention he is also a millionare,, but he plays the deprived hardship role... tax,tax,tax,,all that comes out his mouth,,this man is the most unamerican politician of all time,,,cant believe people want him in office,,, of course we have become a nation of give me my freebies society,, very few want to earn their own way,,, this economy belly flopped cause of govt intervention and govt spending,, not the rich, not big corp., not nothing but govt control and policies,,, we need to get this nation back to its founding form,,, stop govt giveaways ,,make people go out and do for themselves,,, small govt,less regulation,less tax dollars on social and pork agendas,,, govt loves the way this economy is cause it is easier to push their marxist agenda,,

you know,, AMERICA, is going thru some rough times,and everyone is ready to jump ship,,, this is still the greatest nation on earth,, no other nation stands a chance against her,,, we have the best military this world has ever seen,(thanks to all our brave sons and daughters),,, we have the opportunity to do what we want when we want, no other nation can say that,,,, we blame corp.greed on our problems,well yes there is corp. greed ,,but also greed top to bottom,,, there is no one out there that can say they report all their cash dealings to the IRS,,,WHEN THERE IS CASH ON A DEAL DONT TELL ME YOU TURN THAT IN,, GREED,,,, you have people out there that suck off our tax dollars every waking minute of their lives,,,not talking about the truly needy,,, we say about profits oil is making,,but no one mentions the govt profits,,,for every 1/bil oil makes in profits, govt makes 2.5/bil on tax, and dont do nothing to earn it, GREED at the highest level,,,, politicians live off our tax dollars,, car ,home, dinners,cell phones,,their trips, their gas,, all GREED...WE ARE STILL NUMBER 1 and lets not put some one in there that is against us being so great,,

My problem with the so called truth is that you seem to be so far from the other direction I cant and wont believe what you are telling us. Most of it, to me, seems like you twist things to support your own conclusions. I am not trying to start a fight or insult you, just giving my perspective.

I do agree with some of the things you say about America still being the best in the world.

I consider myself a moderate also, but definitely leaning a little to the left. I have not found any of what he says scary or unAmerican, but will definitely pay a little more attention.

Here too Rock. I'm hopeful that we have enough people who still have open minds about the November election. If so, he will finish 2nd. Much of the chatter from both sides is pure rhetoric, but his rhetoric is indeed scary at times. There is a long way to go until November, VP candidates need to be chosen, scandals will come and go, and the media will continue its all out hootenanny. McCain could pull a real fast one on the media and the voting public and pick Hillary Clinton for a running mate. WHOA, catch your breath!!! I know it sounds full-blown crazy at first, but if you think about it the media would be at a loss for words. It would be like hitting them below the belt. And it would all but guarantee victory in PA, OH, NY, and in all likelihood CA. That's a lot of electoral votes. I'm actually hoping he picks Sarah Palin from Alaska. She seems to have the whole package for what he needs in a VP running mate. If he does go with her, he needs to do it fast. She is not a household name at this point, but can become one quickly.

I'm not a big fan of obama myself. What's our other choice bush 3?, thats who mccain is. You look at what this current pres. has done to all off us through his policies. It's no wonder his own repb. party members are looking to vote elsewhere. People are tired of the lack of respect towards the middle class and at this point my guess is their willing to try anything once. I know I'm tired of the overrun of the gov., and we're all going to have to pay for in the end. This admin. has borrowed money from china and the middle east to fund his issues. We would be ripe for a takeover, if this was a corp..

i read that scottie,,, not good for mcCain i agree,,, he did distance himself from the comment,,,, not happy voting for mcCain either,,,, definately not a bush 3,,, bush ran his administration in a liberal party manner,,,excessive spending and big big govt,,,, he does not stand for true conservative policies.... i listened to a speech tonite from obama out in new mexico, stating republicans will say he is black, never heard that yet actually,,he and the dems play the race thing,, he is to young and inexperianced,,well i believe that is a legitimate statement,,the main stream media doesn't question him not once on policy or ask serious questions about his CHANGE speeches,,, he is on a total free ride when it comes to major media,,, harry reed (senate majority leader)says if you say anything about his past and present associations that is being racist,,,come on now the man is running for president,,, people have a right to know these things,,,, it sure is brought out what mcCain,or bush, or anyone on the right does in their private lives,,,he is not special,,he thinks so cause he is black,,not in my book,,,he is open game..

Obama has distanced himself from his former pastor but the right keeps harping about the connection. Goose gander I suppose. If one can't say I disagree and be done with it neither can.

I'm not sure exactly what speeches you are referring too, but in the end, you mention yourself that this country needs to get back to what it was.

Someone recently wrote a Letter to the Editor in the Erie Times, and it was to the tune of how people these days are total spoiled brats. It aluded to instead of taking the high cost of fuel situation on ourselves and looking to ourselves to lessen our use, people would rather keep driving their oversized ghettoed out SUV's at 85mph down I-79 and then whine about how much it costs to fill them up. It mentioned how disgusting it is to see people waiting for the government to do something about it. I have to agree with that.

I appreciate those of you being patriots and insisting that the United States is still the greatest country in the world, but I have to disagree. I have to say we have become the laughing stock of the world. It should have been a warning sign to everyone when other well known countries refused to back us up in Iraq, that it was the wrong move. Our cities, big and small, are being over run with crime. We still have people living in near 3rd world conditions after Hurricane Katrina. Our industry has moved over seas. Home forclosures are out of this world.

We need to stop our arrogance and look at other countries and how they are living and thriving. There's alot to learn from others, but our country insists on the "ho ha we're number 1" attitude. Countries like Norway are thriving because of their government investing in their people, and have dealt with oil prices by making it the so called "greenest country in the world".

As far as I'm concerned, theres not alot to be proud of these days. I'll be getting married in a few months, and the thought of bringing a child in to this world is pretty damn scary.

I have to disagree. Yesterday it was announced that the demand for oil in this country is declining for the first time in 17 years...

I really dont think we will continue to tolerate the fuel prices if they dont go back...They are hurting everyone...Do you think Sony is selling as many 50" LCD Tv's as they were last year???

This not only hurts the people of this country, but every other form of business out there.

One of the largest problems we have in our country right now is the partisan nature of our lives. This "us vs them" mentality is tearing our country about. The social wars we are having today are only a few steps away from a civil war tomorrow. Where did the idea of being an American go? Today I hear you are a good American if you believe the way I do and a bad American if you disagree with me. Where is our common ground? There will be always differences of opinion but why do we always dwell on what we don't agree on and why don't we focus more on what we do agree on? The myth of unity means uniformity is killing us. Diversity is what made our country great. Diversity of ideas, diversity of opinions, diversity of culture, etc... is what gives vigor to America. The blending of ideas and points of view almost always provides more and better insight into problems and then potential solutions derived from monochromatic ideals.

American needs conservative views and liberal views. We need people who want to stay a course and those who seek to put the hand to the rudder. There must be a balance between the extremes, a middle way. What I am afraid of is that too many only want to see the world through the eyes of their talking head guru and can only imagine a world that fits their narrow perspective.

Let the debates role, push the envelope, challenge each other, but in the end realize we all are on the same team. A house divide against itself will fall. Unity, not uniformity, must be our goal.

(We have become the laughing stock of the world)----There are 1,400,000 folks who want to laugh with us. That's the number of applications for citizenship in the U.S. in fiscal year 2007. For all our faults a whole lot of folks want in and very few want out.

I'm sorry but it sounds as if you just enjoy whining and are part of the exact problem which you whine about. It's easy to sit back and bash an entire country but very hard to leave it.

Yeah, laughing stock of the world is a bit far fetched. Our standards are held a bit higher than most other countries. I don't think we could possibly ever be the laughing stock of the world. I wouldn't disagree that this past 8 years have alienated us from some very close traditional allies. I doubt that it would take very much to have them on our side again. Although "4 more years" showed it wasn't just our government that is incompetent... Starting off by replaceing an adminstration that doesn't listen to anything that our allies have to say, might be a good way to mend relations.

I think both of our canidates are going to be a little more courteous of our allies. Although, the way McCain seems to have turned into a completely different person in the last year, I have no idea about him any more. I am hoping that he is doing it, just to win over the far right.

Where are all of the "I wouldn't vote for Kerry, because he flip flops on every issue." I take it that McCain surely isn't your man then? Although, is he really flipping, or is he just forgetting what his stance was a few years ago. I'm sure he could tell you stories in perfect detail of his childhood though. That is, if you can wait until the morning, since it is bed time....

I dont think we are a laughing stock as much as alot of countries are pissed off at us for not holding it together....im sure our economy drop is hurting all these countries with exports counting on us to buy....China, Japan, Korea, ect

scottie,what people drive isnt a issue,,how fast ,possibly, until the auto industry mass produces some sort of hybrid,,we drive what we have,,driving habits,i am sure most drivers do conserve,,,but i myself travel int.70 and 79 everyday and do see some blurrs shooting by me,,,, waiting for govt to do something,well that is a problem,,cause they slow progress down with all their policies and regulations.....america was at the forefront of inventions because of entrepeneurs, not govt,,,this economy is hurting right now,but it isnt broken,, there are sectors doing fairly well ,,,southwest states have a continous rise in their economy,, no president or govt agency is going to get this economy going,it is going to take the free will of the people to do that,inventors,entrepeneurs, and investors willing to take a chance...

Not at all, I've made adjustments in our lives right down to the rpm level at which I shift my manual transmission in my car to change our lives for the better and help the problem instead of further create it.

What I'm referring to is another post I saw today, about someone complaining there should be more canidates to chose from. There were, plenty, but no one supports them, for instance, Independants, or lesser known Republicans or Democrats. This country is what we put in to it.

Thats only because they think their living situation will be better in the US, which in many cases it will be.

I'm referring more to the years of United States being referred to as the super power of the world is really not the case any longer. When you have ten year old children in Germany who know more about United States history than an American adult does, thats pathetic.

always said our govt run education system is a failure,,, heard a report today about how states cant afford their budgets , so they gone after school activities and buses,, making kids walk further than pay the gas for buses,, cut back on school programs such as sports ,special activities,,,, why dont they cut their state pork spending and leave the schools fully running ,, cut education but not over zealous spending,,, we got some smart politicians at all levels of govt

remember the 'no child left behind program'? funding was cut to it. education was polluted under this program, and now there isn't enough monies available to continue it. should have just left the system alone.
