Ginger Pills, my daughter will get sick without them.  Dramamine makes her go to sleep.  2 ginger pills an hour before and she is fine.

Ginger Pills

Raw or pickled Ginger  like the ginger as a side to sushi

Sea sick sickness wrist bands.

Green tea-real tea, not bottled crap
Take the pill at least 1/2 hour before getting on boat.

No drinking of alcohol the night before and no egg's for breakfast that morning of. Stay away from the oil and vin. style sandwiches for lunch while on ship. Outside of the over the counter meds., don't stare at the water look around and keep busy. If you feel yourself getting sick, strike up a conversation w/ someone next to you.

Agreed with all of the others.  I love Dramamine and swear by it, ginger is always good to.  Keep some cans of warm ginger ale on the boat and make those who are about to get seasick drink an entire can.  This works quite well.  A couple of other things to try.  If you can and conditions allow it, let your friends have a crack at driving the boat (focuses attention away from the ups and down).  Another thing (and this is big) when baiting hooks and tying rigs... DON'T FOCUS DOWNWARD.  Try to look straight out (slightly upward) and occasionally divert your attention away from your fingers while baiting and tying.  Also, as the captain, try to keep the engine fumes and gas smells downwind of your crew.  Those fumes will make them a little nauseous and contribute to seasickness.

Find new friends if you want to stay out all day. Just my experience. I've been told drink a coke & eat some saltine crackers before you go out . Never been green so I feel bad for those fellow chums > LOL

My wife and kids think the wrist bands (?biobands) work.  I'm not convinced.  Try a dozen raw oysters and a picture of Hillary Clinton.

Do not injest liquids for several hours prior to going out on the boat.

Look at the horizon.

I got green a few times... Too much of a good thing the night before and it's always 5 o'clock somewhere...

I drank WARM Coca-Cola, and tried the crackers. Calmed me down quite a bit.

Dramamine worked for my kids when they were younger, but, it always made them too tired to fully enjoy the fishing trips out on the lake.

Thank god for raw water washdown and a self draining cockpit!

If nothing else that'll help bring everything up all at once so you won't have anything in your stomach to make you sick.

Mythbusters did a motion sickness test and found the only thing that worked was ginger.  The bands are just a mental thing.  If they work for you, great, keep using them.  But the best thing would be to have some ginger snap cookies or even some ginger ale.  I like mine with Three Fingers of bourbon.

Drink beer....puke....grow a set.....continue to fish...

Actually Dramamine always worked for me, but you have to take it a couple of hours before hand, then keep up with them as prescribed while out there.

Funny that you couldn't find a smiley for "growing a set".  I think I am happy about that.

Another tip, don't let the passengers eat a bag of red licorice before the trip, it gets difficult to tell if it is blood or licorice.

Tip: Never crawl up under the console to change the livewell pump's fuse in 4-5's!  That was the only time I have ever been seasick in my life. Man was it horrible.  If that fuse ever blows again in rough water I'll be bucketing water to the minnows instead of crawling under there again.

To me Dramamine seems to only work because you can't be sick while your asleep.  Everyone I know that needs something goes with either ginger or a bonine.

My mother can even get sick on a calm day from boat wakes if she dosent take anything, but shes fine even in 5 footers with a bonine.

scopolamine patches can be prescribed by primary care doc.  they are used prior to surgery mostly to help alleviate nausea ass. w/ anesthetic but work well for motion sickness w/ less drowsiness.
How to Use Transderm Scōp

Transderm Scōp should be stored at controlled room temperature between 20°C - 25° (68°F - 77°F) until you are ready to use it.
  1. For the prevention of motion sickness, plan to apply one Transderm Scōp patch at least 4 hours before you need it. If the patch is to be used in conjunction with scheduled surgery, it is applied the evening before surgery. For cesarean section, the patch is applied one hour prior to surgery to minimize exposure of the unborn child to the drug. Wear only one patch at any time. Do not cut the patch.
  2. Select a hairless area of skin behind one ear, taking care to avoid any cuts or irritations. Wipe the area with a clean, dry tissue.
  3. Peel the package open and remove the patch (Figure1).

    Figure 1
  4. Remove the clear plastic six-sided backing from the round patch. Try not to touch the adhesive surface on the patch with your hands (Figure 2).

    Figure 2
  5. Firmly apply the adhesive surface (metallic side) to the dry area of skin behind the ear so that the tan-colored side is showing (Figure 3). Make good contact, especially around the edge. Once you have placed the patch behind your ear, do not move it for as long as you want to use it (e.g., up to 3 days for prevention of motion sickness).

    Figure 3
  6. Important: After the patch is in place, be sure to wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water to remove any scopolamine. If this drug were to come into contact with your eyes, it could cause temporary blurring of vision and dilation (widening) of the pupils (the dark circles in the center of your eyes). Unless accompanied by eye pain and reddened whites of the eyes (see Precautions), this is not serious and your pupils should return to normal.
  7. If the patch is being used to prevent the nausea and vomiting of motion sickness, remove the patch after 3 days and throw it away. (You may remove it sooner if you are no longer concerned about motion sickness). If the patch is being used to prevent nausea and vomiting associated with anesthesia or analgesia, the patch should be kept in place for 24 hours following surgery at which time it should be removed and discarded. After removing the patch, be sure to wash your hands and the area behind your ear thoroughly with soap and water. Since the patch will still contain some active ingredient after use, and to avoid accidental contact or ingestion by children or pets, fold the used patch in half with the sticky side together and dispose in the trash out of the reach of children and pets.
  8. If you wish to control the nausea and vomiting of motion sickness for longer than 3 days, remove the first patch after 3 days and place a new one behind the other ear, repeating instructions 2 through 7.
  9. Keep the patch dry, if possible, to prevent it from falling off. Limited contact with water, however, as in bathing or swimming, will not affect the system. In the unlikely event that the patch falls off, throw it away and put a new one behind the other ear.
  10. Please inform your doctor if you are taking other medications, including over-the-counter medications.

More Information

hope this helps.
